Just one? I reckon I'd have to sell all 3 of mine, to afford that.

That picture was on the front cover of AMCN back in 2010/2011. I'm still waiting to see the bike enter production....

Selling off children is not PC at this time, especially if they are schoolgirls.. As an alternative we could put up Son of Woof and VFR007 up for sale for maybe a small down payment on this bike.

It would be nice to see the return of special offerings such as the NR750 and the RC30 / RC45 again. Never makes financial sense but these machines live on as a testimony to Honda's love of motorcycles. It's a small price to pay to create legendary machines that will be put on pedestals in personal collections and museums for decades. They are overdue to produce something exciting, IMHO of course.

Sadly, the only thing Honda seems capable of doing is releasing a slightly upspec CBR1000 and making only a few of them, then overcharging. I think that Honda has lost the passion for motorcycles. They used to be progressive and create new standards in motorcycles, not all they are doing is reacting to the market, instead of defining it. Enormous success in MotoGP and yet none of it filters down to us, the consumers. I feel that the days of Honda creating bikes that set the pace for everyone else to follow is long gone. The new VFR is proof of this. I am very grateful to have a new choice in Sport-touring, but they had a fantastic opportunity with the new Viffer, but all they did was, again, add a little fluff to an old platform and call it new.

What happened Honda? You had a chance to really define yourselves. The VFR could have easily had some true potential. The engine could have been bigger/stronger, the suspension could have actually help the weight of a grown adult. VTEC could have gone by the wayside, replaced with real torque and real horsepower, truly showing the potential of the V4. Instead, we get a lame attempt at a re-hash of old technology. I expect this of Harley Davidson, not Honda. Last decade's technology, wrapped in new clothes is not progression, it's HD.

My bet that next year we will see the V4 in a Honda sportbike. The new CBR SP was just something with a few more bits on it to hold off a little of the screaming.

What is being left out is that selling bikes of any kind is a business whose primary responsibility is to make a profit. Harley has over 100 years of experience finding their market and have done so in spades. Honda not being capable of doing what they want to so far as bikes are concerned is BS..

Not to worry. If that bike above ever becomes a for sale machine, the line will be very long and the checks will be good.

Honda doesn't seem to be doing poorly on MOTO-GP circuits this year so far. Racing has always sold bikes and we all would like to think we are the fast guys. The harleydoods think that way too..;)

I think Honda is playing it safe. Giving us products for market segments that people are actually buying (i.e.; can afford). While the new CBR500's, CBR 250 & Grom may not be that exciting to experienced riders, selling lots of little bikes is one way to offset the cost of selling a few expensive super bikes.

Honda is in the lead right now in WSBK and moto gp. WSBK is the real sales machine as they are our bikes on steroids. Johnny Rea is flogging the long in the long in the tooth to lead the way in WSBK and in manufacturing points. If Honda keeps winning with the old girl it may take longer for a V4. But I still enjoy seeing Johnny beating BMW, Kawi and that V4 Ape. Not to mention the DUC!

Look at the VFR1200F. For all its TCS & DCT is it selling? Sure Honda could've given us a completely new bike but whats the point if it sits in the showroom?

The fact that Honda can take a decade old design "re-hash" it & still have a competent platform is a testament to how good that design is. How many posts on this website from riders that had their suspension reworked & claimed that it transformed their bike? Sometimes a little fluff can make a great bike even better.

Just because its new doesn't make it a good bike, too expensive Billy boy bikes don't sell well. Used well made low mileage bikes do-fix it up a bit.:boxing2::tsk::puke:

You all have valid points and truth be told, I love my VFR. I love it now that I have done a couple of things to it. I almost sold it as the light switch throttle almost put my into cars, due to the throttle going from off to on too much. Now, I don't think I'll ever sell it. Yes, I will spend about $1000 on getting the suspension reworked and upgraded and yes, this will make it a fantastic bike.

My rant above sounds bad, I get that. I just would like to see Honda really step out and make a good standout bike. I was looking at the the CBR1000 a few days ago and for the price, the specs and what you get, I just don't know. Honda's innovations have in the past really set the standard for a lot of industries. Generators, the original Civic hatchback, a number of their bikes back in the day. In some regards, nothing like it existed before Honda. I would like to see that again.

I guess the V4 supersport already exists though with the Aprillia RSV4, so really I don't know what else Honda could do, so maybe I am "up in arms" over nothing. I just thought that maybe Honda could have stood out from the crowd more with the new VFR. But, in retrospect, it is a good bike and a great platform. Maybe if I get a chance to ride it, in comparison to my 05 VFR, I'll feel differently.

In regards to Ducati and racing, I don't know what is up with them. I am friends with the owner and management at Ducati Westlake and I am not sure what is up with their bikes. Seems like they have the right idea with their bikes, but the success just hasn't followed. We trudge on...

So, in conclusion, I love my VFR now. I know that bikes are a business and the point of being in business is to make profit, Honda is not a charity. I still would like to see Honda create something that would bring things up a notch, without it costing a bazillion dollars. Will I buy another bike? Probably. Will I ever sell my VFR? Doubtful.

None of the bike manufactures will blow their load to soon. The bean counters let new things eek out and keep a steady sales profit. But sooner or later a V4 should come out. Obviously later.
