I have a 2007 VFR 800 . I don't like the silver rims . My bike is the Dark candy red and I want to either have them chromed or black anodized chrome or Powder Coating done . Black or same color as the bike candy red . Some input would be great . Bike now only has 4,000 miles on it and still clean as new . I got this Powder Coating place that will do them for $80 a rim that's with a second clear coat . VFR.jpg vfr1.jpg

Definitely not chrome. Would look really tacky on a fully faired sport bike.

Powder coating is easy to care for and chrome must be polished constantly or it looks terrible. My two pennies.

Go with powder coating. $80 a rim is a very fair price IMO.

    Ah...where's the nitrous?

As others have mentioned, chrome = a bit too bling. Painting the wheels the same color as the bike would look a bit cheesy, too.

Powder coating is the way to go. Take a look at the '02 VFRs and see if you like the black wheels. I find them to be too dark--they are invisible. A lighter color helps the wheels show up more, which you probably want, especially with the single-sided swingarm.

Anodizing can look good too. A dead match in powdercoat to your body paint is not going to happen. Paint will get you close. 80 pesos/ wheel is a good deal.

Colorwise, that is your decision alone. Light colors show grunge moreso than darker colors. I figure the dudes with light colored wheels that are dirty are much the same as those who have dark wheels.

Unless aiming for mud puddles, the wheel the gets most of the crud is the rear wheel. Improvements in chain lube and using one of the cleaning concentrates in a squirt bottle and an old paint brush is about all a dude needs to clean a wheel. A couple of pesos in a coin operated car wash will also clean those wheels. All that needs to be done is stand back about 6' or so. If the place isn't loaded up with a big line, pop the bike up on the centerstand, and run it in gear.

For those with less than adequate reading skills, BB does not advocate using an automated or manned car wash for bikes. One dude on a Harley did that and ended up with a permanent mullet.

I called and went to order the NOS But The place told me before I order make sure the stock injectors will handle it . If they run at 100% duty cycle from Honda it will not work . But if they run at 80% or less then it will work . So now I have to look into that . Don't even know who to ask .

FUCK'm all. Often I do that and I really give a rats ass if there is a line-up. If the water is running, I have paid to be there.

I agree with what has already been said about chrome and paint. Regardless of the colour, they all get dirty. Some just show it more. Just ask the idiots who get theirs done white.

You may think that black does not show the dirt but it actually does. You may wish to consider the charcol grey that came stock with the 07 RWB. The brake dust and chain fling really is hard to see on that colour.

Well since you asked I will give you my full, non-candy coated opinion. :single_eye:

Please no chrome. Even the Harley guys don't do chrome anymore. Only the old, old people do that now. You're not one of those right?

Black is cool only IF your bike has matching black finish. And I don't mean ANY black. If you're going to do flat black then your bike better have other LARGE flat black areas, like the radiator, engine, & frame. Your '07 does not have this so don't do flat black or even semi-gloss.

That leaves only two options: Grey/Anthracite or Gold. Yes Gold.

Your current wheel color is probably flat grey. Anthracite in semi-gloss would be good but it's too close to what you have already. Which leaves Gold. If you want to be different this is the color I would do. Dark Gold in semi-gloss. I would also make sure your chain is Gold. Since you're powder coating you may as well powder coat your rear set (rider only) the same color to give it that matching theme. I would also powdercoat the fork legs the same color as the wheels too. That will complete the look.

Do NOT paint your wheels the same color as your bodywork. It works with white but NOT burgundy.

I'm gonna go with OCLandspeeder on this one, do not go chrome, black or color match the body. I almost went with the gold myself on my red 5 Gen but the white 8 spoke wheel I bought convinced me to do the wheels in white. The only drawback to white wheels is the brake dust and road grime that shows after every ride! (Yeah I'm one of those idiots Randy spoke of)

At one point I was thinking black but with a dark red pinstripe on both sides . the gold is ok . maybe a brighter silver or darker but anyway being powder coated will be better then just the factory paint on the rims . more durable anyway .

Install the NOS system first. You will be so fast that no one will give a shit what color your wheels are.

I've always thought a bright silver that matches the frame would look pretty good. That's what color I will choose, if I ever do my wheels.

I was thinking the same thing Aimbot 9000 . But I want to make sure being the bike is like new with only 4,000 miles on it .
The NOS kit I'm looking at works with the PC5 . When the NOS is armed it will automatically switch to the map on the PC5 that's set up for the NOS .
