the Zg touring are more weak then the DB too-the ends seem too break very easy. Over tightening the oil pan bolt could cause all the oil to leak out then your looking at maybe running the engine with no oil. I almost wasn't going to get ZG touring because I was thinking it would break and it will when it gets old.

Now that you have had time to collect your thoughts and hopefully go for a spirited and windy ride............... I noticed this ad in the classified section this morning. Hopefully things are going FAR better today than they did yesterday. Of course, HOW could they be going worse I suppose. Aw Crap, Hope I didn't just jinx it, MY BAD.

Pretty sure I'll not be using any more ZG products on my bike. Not had a real good experience so far with them lol. Thanks for the link anyway though

I've done that before on my r6, Over tightened and ended up with 2 cracks. I definitely wasn't too happy.

I didn't even get the thing on the bike. It broke when I tried to gently shove it into place. Needless to say I was very displeased.

I am installing a ZG touring on My vfr, I just got the part. It has a ZD DB on it now. I am going to take my time with installing it and not rush it. It came in clear-so I am panting the bottom of it with plastic paint in black. I will take some pics. I have a appointment to put on my New :pound::smokin:Metzler M5 super tires next Thursday!

One of the best investments I have made on my VFR have been "No Drill" sliders/ Crash bobbins that I bought on EBay. They are definitely not crash worthy, but they have saved my paint/ Fairings the few times my bike has tipped or fallen over. Best $40 I ever spent

That's the wrong place to go cheap-those R+G sliders would work great up to maybe 20mph. I dropped R6 with sliders at 15mph and only broke a foot peg. But it is better than nothing. I am putting off ZG install -to nice out today-I go riding and look for horny Greatfull dead girls with no shoes-I bring rubbers for there smelly feet.:der::boink::hump:

I respect your self restraint in not jumping on that bloody screen when it first cracked.. you should mail the pieces back to them!

Now a quick hijack: I have seen the frame sliders before but had no idea what they were.. thanks to wiki, I now do and they seem like a good investment. Are there any preferred kind? Shorter vs longer, etc?

I have them on to serve the purpose of protecting my Fairings which they have been more than worth it. My Fairings are scratch free and no breaks and my VFR has been knocked over on both sides. I do think "true" sliders bolted to the frame are a great choice/option but from what I have seen they require a lot of work on a VFR up to and including drilling holes in the Fairings and the coolant bottle. Either way, it's all good.

Maybe these screens would install easier if heated in the oven for a bit so it would flex into shape/alignment and not crack. Just a thought.

The R+G sliders do more than just protect the fairing-they also lock on the plastic like iron-you don't need to worry about all those fasteners they sometimes don't work-I wouldn't worry about a two holes on the sides. I would worry about scratched up fuk up plastic pieces not to mention other parts like protecting your foot or leg from a slide. I don't fix other peoples bike, so do what ever you want. One of the silly est thing I saw was a chainsaw like chain on a Harley-that would destroy your leg in a fall -I had to laugh at that one-I just thought-I would never be that stupid to ride that crazy ride.:smokin:

Very true. I worked with plastics in school and that is how they are formed. But be careful with that making sure you don't over heat it and it looses its form. Great idea though.

maybe a little heat with a hair dryer, but I wouldn't bother. Don't install on a cold day. I am going to take my sweat time doing this because of so many people breaking these things and then I would be out of $84. I need to get my m5's on,so I am putting this job off because a sloppy installer might break the screen, ZG touring model break at the ends very easy. Also when these screens get old they will break much easy. I am also panting my clear screen black on the bottom, so I will need to let the paint dry. I am not going to rush any job just to screw it up-I want to ride it :stickhorse::stickhorse:put 87 shell gas in today mainly because the price went up on 89 shell-it probley likes 87 shell the best. I think my 06 is a very sexy looking machine and dead head girls seem to be every where-no brains but great bodies.

Sorry about the screen, I'm hating on my center stand also because I just tipped mine over too. Lost my right mirror is all thank God, but those things aren't cheap on bikebandit.com. I'm running the zero gravity screen also, I'll have to make sure it didn't crack from my tip over.

SPEAKING of tip overs, i bought my 3rd viffer from a owner in Las vegas (maybe he didnt know) who failed to tell me one bolt is missing out of the 2 on the side stand mount so i found out at the gas station when it decided to almost fall on its left when the side stand folded in backwards towards the fairing when i was getting off the bike. I almost gave my self a hernia trying to get it back up from a 50deg angle lol.

Upon further thought, he must of known something about it, because all the pictures hes sent me for the ad has the bike on the center stand and left side fairing has scuffs from a previous fall over.

Though mine has remained very tight throughout its life, the bolts on the side stands of these things have been known to come loose. A few have been dropped becuase of it. That is a good check when you do periodic visual maintainance checks.
