You dropped it how many time!

I sometimes ride when no one else is that's usually a mistake, but I see people riding in poring rain rain-not me if I can avoid it! But I only dropped a VFR once. And I used my foot as a slider and saved the plastic-only superman can do that:drum::boxing2:

I said I only dropped a vfr once,I never had a vfr before. I am not going to count my last bike it was a r6 that I first learned how to ride-I dropped it a lot. I am doing better now because I stopped rushing.:mask::snowman::boink:

Next time don't put the bike on a center stand in that spot without someone to help you-rushing a job on a motorcycle is a bad idea-makes things go wrong. Get some R+G sliders on and folding levers-=don't fix a peg feeler those are just for girls.

When I was a teenager I rode many enduro and offroad bikes that belonged to my friends. I'm sure I put them all down multiple times but I don't remember anything specific.

When I was 20 (1981), I test drove a Honda CX-500 a guy had for sale. I stopped at a market down the street to turn around and when I went to put my foot down it was on the low side of a hill in the bike was too tall for me to save it went straight down and broke the clutch handle. I ended up not buying it because the next day found out that my wife was pregnant. Paid the guy $20 to replace the clutch handle.....

Many years without a bike until 2013 when I got the VFR. SO FAR, no drops or near misses. When sitting on it, I sometimes tilt it over to see how far I can tilt and still bring it back up and I really don't feel like it's that heavy of a bike. so I'm both cautious and lucky.

Can damaged fairings be fixed?

Well it happened.My virgin '07 and I had a tangle with a oil slick in a parking space.As fate would have it a passerby offered to help me pick up the bike and he let it down on the opposite side.I needed his help because of my bad back anyway but you know,stuff happens.
Does anyone know who can repair fairings? I have located the factory paint so hopefully matching the color should be ok..thanks...rc

Update: I decided to file a claim with my insurer.The adjuster came to the house took one look at it ask me if I was going to do the work myself, and wrote me a check.I ordered the parts from a OEM online dealer,all the parts were available... 1 week later they arrived.
Not a bad deal after all! ...thanks everyone!

 

I think you can repair that, just depends on how good you want the repair. I say go to a body shop and see how much they want. They can weld plastic now like new. My SRT-4 Neon has abs plastic bumper and it got hit and repaired so well you can't see where it was hiT-still cheaper then a new bumper.:whoops::kc10::lever::croc:

 

No welding is necessary with the damage shown.

Sure they could. This could cause a problem if the fairing ever had to come off.

 

From what I see in the photos, it doesn't appear that there are cracks so plastic welding should not be needed I don't think. Those gouges should be able to be repaired with a filler, sanding priming and paint. But if you were to pay someone to do all that, it may be cheaper to get new panels. I don't know, you need to do some price comparisons.

Bad thing about replacing the plastics is that red is one of the colours that seems to fade the worse. There may be an obvious difference between the panels. But you are going to run into that even painting.

My complete plastic set was prepped and painted a couple years back with OEM paint for about $1300.00. But that was done here in Canada where we pay a lot more than you do down in the States.

That one panel looks like it is just the paint that is scratched so I don't think any bondo would be required there.
The short of it is, it looks like it can be repaired if that's the route you choose to take.
