    Hi guys.

Came across this forum some time ago, and have been using it for info and advice when I recently decided to buy a 6th gen.
Made arrangements to buy a bike a few days ago, and obviously had to join the forum :)

So here I am, writing from the coast of Norway. Brønnøysund to be precise. Pretty much exactly at the geographical center of Norway.

The last years I haven't been riding much. A few trips on loaned bikes and rentals, but it's been 9 years since I sold my previous bike. (a Suzuki SV)
Been dreaming about bikes ever since, and finally feel like I have the time and money to get and enjoy the bike I want, so congrats to me, on getting back in the saddle :) :triumphant:

The bike I'm getting is a 2007 VFR with ABS, in silver, with the oem hard bags, and about 25.000km on it.
It's not pristine. There's scratches on the bags, and one on the fairing. The service history is good up until 20.000km, but it hasn't had the big service at 24k.
The bike has been stored since the fall of 2011, and certainly needs a good looking after. But the test drive showed a good and healthy bike, with no noticeable issues except needing new tires.
Just how I want it. Got it cheap, and I get to fiddle with servicing it and getting to know the tech before staring to use it.
I'm picking it up in about a week, and since it needs some work, I wont be driving it home. So a long ride in my trusted Mitsubishi pickup is planned.

Already ordered a delkevic set for it, other than that I'll keep it pretty much stock, and focus on getting it back to shape. (For now... :) )
Will post some pictures in a few weeks, and show how it's coming along :)

Big thanks to all you guys posting tips and guides! Really helpful for us "newbies" on the VFR.

    Welcome to the MadHouse!:welcome:

Congratulations on your purchase (and impeccable English). We are looking forward to seeing the photos.

Hopefully it won't be long before the bike is fit and the weather improves enough for you to enjoy that V4 roar!

Welcome aboard. 25000Km is still pretty new, if its been stored for so long I would give the electrical connections a quick look and maybe change the fluids, and pull the air filter off to check that nothing has set up home in there. Ride safe.

Thanks guys!, and thanks for the heads up Bryan88.

Full fluid change, oil and air filter change is planned. Dont think i'll do the fork yet though. I've never done it before, and the fear of screwing up is rather big at this point .. So I think i'll wait until i feel the need. I test drove the bike. Hardly any dive during braking. And the seals seemed to be good.

Electrics seemed to work perfectly. But of course, a check is allways good.
The bike has lived it's life in a wet and corrosive climate, so rust and electrical issues are always a factor.

Right now I'm just looking forward to getting the thing home :)

    She's home!

    Picked up the bike yesterday.
Here she is, in my messy shed:

    A little cleaning:

Changed the air filter, and then, out for a ride!!

Had a great afteroon trip. About 100km to get to know the bike a little, and brush up on my driving skills. :)

Nice pictures. That looks a very good find, and by the looks of it, you enjoyed a fine springtime ride. Sadly my bikes are back in the garage with more snow and then a lot of rain forecast for the week ahead.

    Take care

Very nice bike, sounds like it will clean up well. You might also want to clean the important electrical connectors, as these can be a problem on the VFR. You can start by checking the voltage at the battery and making sure it's about 14.2V+ and doesn't change with rpm.

    Thanks guys.

Right now I'm waiting for parts.
Ordered oil/filters (Castrol Power 1 Racing 10w40), brake pads for the front, heated grips, exhaust and so on.
Will have a day of fiddling and installing as soon as it all arrives.
I'll also make sure to clean up the rechable connectors when the fairings are off.

    Noticed a whissling noise today.
Comes when releasing the clutch in neutral. Goes away when i pull the clutch again.
Pretty shure this is the clutch lifter bearing, so I just ordered that too.
Will wait until this arrives before doing the oil change. No point in wasting fresh oil..

For now, I'm just cruising. It's so nice to have a bike again!! :)
