New guy from North Carolina. First bike...

Hey guys and gals, I'm new here. Recently purchased a 2006 VFR800 in metallic white from a local car lot. This is gonna be my first bike and hopefully it's gonna be a good one. I bought the bike with 9,692 miles on the clock and what seems to be the original everything, even tires and chain. Not sure how fast they would wear out though, so may be new stuff and it just looks original. Tires are about gone though and I'm looking to put Dunlop Q3s on it. Found them for a good price and they are getting rave reviews. Bike has a few minor things I wanna fix up but overall it seems to be great and I just can't wait to get out and ride this thing.

 

Welcome friend where about in North Carolina do you live I ride up in highlands and hwy 28 a lot maybe we can meet up some time and do some riding. As for the bike don't know to much about the 6th gen but I do know is there very reliable machine and I'm sure it will make a good machine.

 

I'm down on the coast by Jacksonville. Quite a ways away from you unfortunately. And you're right, it seems to be every bit as solid as my Honda Foreman 500 atv.

 

The 06 is a really pretty machine, just ask Randy! His has something like 160,000k on the clock and more every day. That was a hint that pictures of the beast are expected soon.

I'm confident that your chain is original as they can last a very long time if maintained on a regular basis. Tires however are another story, you probably have the original front still on there but it's very likely the second rear but it depends on many unknown factors (essentially the personality of the previous owner).

Velcome aboard! Ride like your invisable and everyone is oot to kill you! It worked for me for over 3 decades. Even if you see the cager looking right at you, it does'nt mean that he/she won't pull oot in front of you. Intersections are your worst enemy too, left turn cagers can take you oot, its gona be a great ride, don't get me wrong, but you can't let up with rider edmucation and riding sober/drug free. :thumbsup: :vtr2: love the street.

 

One way is to go via a image hosting site (Imageshack or such) and share them from there. Can't tell you how to get them off your phone without a pc or such though.

Congratulation on your new ride, the 06 is a fine machine. She will keep you happy for many years to come as long as you
take care of her. Put some new tires on her flush all the fluids and ride her.

Think I got this figured out now...

 

glad you got it home safe and sound, for future references, you should compress the front forks either through your clip-ons or your lower triple tree, idea here is to compress the front end to the floor of what ever your hauling it on. You dont wana smash the front tyre against the rail on the trailor though. The back of the bike is not as critical, you could almost loop something underneath the rear wheel, this is just so in the event that you go over a big arse bump, the rear end of the bike won't swing oot like a giant pendilium. Its good to lash all four sides down though, so, you could use your grab rails or passenger foot peg rests as anchor points, then you run the straps to the angel irons on your trailor, you get the picture. 0h, and never and I mean never use your side-stand while your trailoring your bike. Sorry to re-post but thought I had to. You can brake it off - I have seen them...Or at best, bend them...Cheers

 

Sharp looking bike, try not to trailer it anymore.
As far as tires, I hate dunflops. Never been happy with the way they wear out for me.
