The shop manual doesn't seem to have a clear guide to adjusting the stock rear suspension. Anyone ever thought about doing a little step by step?

Step 1: remove junk VFR OEM shock
Step 2: throw shock in trash
Step 3: replace shock with quality functioning shock.
    Step 4: ride with smiles
    Step 5: drink beer

What's wrong with the stock shock? Mine seems to work fine, though I would like to know how to adjust it for better performance.

Seems to work probably because you haven't rode one that actually works.

I would have to agree with Tinker...my stock shock is fine because I don't know the difference....Ignorance is blissful at times.

I'm new to the this bike and it's my first VFR and I'm sure in time I may look to adjust or exchange suspension components but I need to get more time on the bike. It's a world of difference from my Hawk that I have done 15,000 miles on. I am now comfortable to know what I want or need in the Hawk to make it better. After some more miles on the VFR I am sure I would like to ride one that has a different set up to see how it feels. Not doing any track days, just some spirited riding and touring.

Riding a Hawk can spoil your appreciation for larger bikes: Why do i need to haul around alot of extra weight and bulk just for a few more hp ??
