    HI guys!

Bought my VFR 4th gen last fall, and I have only driven it from the sellers place to my dads place, to put it inside for the winter.
So I'm really looking forward to start a new season soon here in Denmark.

By I was thinking about the price. I bought it for, what would be 8.250 in US dollars, or 45.000 danish kroners.
It was in good condition, and one of the cheapest on the market at that moment. (I had looked trough the market half a year up to the buy, so I had a pretty good idea of the prices at that point)
It had 50.000 km on the clock (31250 miles) and was a 97 model with a different exhaust (nice sound!), black glas and grey indicator glas.

So here is my request, please post the price on your 3rd or 4th gen and what condition it was in at the time of the buying. Just for fun of comparing and probaply getting very jealous of the prices in other countries than your own (including me, I believe).

And also, as English is not native language and school has been a couple of years ago, please look past the spelling errors ;)

As I can understand from the site, threads are invalid without pictures :p, therefore one of my Honda!

    Hey there Mads.a

8250 U.S. dollars. by purely U.S. standards thats pretty high. Hate to tell you that. I'm not trying to be a downer but my 2007 new from the dealer in 2010 was a bit less than that.

But the price you paid may be the going rate over there for a used bike. For reference what would a brand new VFR1200 cost over there? Or maybe list the prices of a few other common bikes brand new. That may be the best way to establish a frame of reference.

I know when I was stationed over seas in S. Korea in the late 90's, you couldn't even buy a bike over 250cc. And any bike over that displacement, you had to import grey market. Ended up costing almost as much as an expensive luxury car.

Just took a look at a new VFR 1200 XD Crosstourer. And the price for this one will be 50.000 in US dollars.

How come they didn't ride any bigger bikes, you think?

I purchased a 1996 VFR750 for my wife back in October of 2013 and we paid $3000 incl tax (12%) for a bike with 45,000 km's. The bike also came with custom made aluminum side cases, a new tail rack that can be used to carry whatever and has been drilled to fit a Givi Monokey plate, a Corbin saddle, Delkevic slip-on exhaust, and a brand new set of tires (Michelin PR3's), and all the stock parts came with the bike as well. The bike in question is the silver one in my avatar photo. The red bike is my 2000 VFR800 which I picked up about 5 years ago now from a local car dealer for $2000. I'll be the first to admit that I stole that one, but they REALLY wanted to get rid of the bike since it had been sitting in the new car showroom for nearly 18 months when I bought it. My 2000 VFR had a little over 50,000 km's when I purchased it and the price was WAY too good to pass over. The Canadian dollar is currently worth about 0.95 USD so that would be $2850 USD for my wife's bike and $1900 for mine. For the record the dealer was asking $6900 to start for my 2000 VFR800 and the asking price when I bought it showed $3995 on the window sticker.

The prices for bikes in Canada is usually a fair bit higher than the market prices in the US for used bikes but it varies by region as well. Prices on used VFR's in some of the larger cities near me can be either higher or lower depending on the age and style of machine. As long as you got what YOU feel is a fair price, that is what really matters. Even if you could get it for a lower price somewhere else, you would still have to pay shipping charges to get it to you, an if coming from overseas the cost of shipping would be huge.

Congratulations on the purchase and we hope you enjoy your new VFR as much as we all KNOW you will. Ride safe and keep the new girl shiny side up.

I don't think we've had the crosstourer here in the states yet. Atleast not currently on honda's website. But assuming its close to the vfr1200F, it retails for about $16000. So thats a factor of about 3 times greater in price in your neck of the woods.

So your purchase comes out to about $2700 or so in the U.S. with the comparable factor of price elevation. Doesn't sound as bad when you put it in perspective. Having said that, it stinks some countries have so much higher prices for the same bike. I'm sure it comes down to foreign trade policies and exchange rates.

anyway, its now yours. so go have fun, enjoy!

I just bought a 1990 3rd gen that was in near perfect condition. Also came with a Joe Rocket riding jacket, shorty gloves, service manual, two brothers left exit exhaust, 5th gen mirrors and the stock ones as well, and a rear stand...all for $2,000.

I'm in the UK, and bought my 1995 VFR750FS, about 3 months ago, for 1200GBP (about 12,000Kr)
40,000miles. Pretty good condition, but needed new tyres and complete exhaust system (which probably add up to another 6000Kr)

The whole of Denmark/Sweden is expensive I'm afraid. I travel for work and had to buy an emergency shirt for work (KLM managed to lose my luggage), and the cheapest I could find was 600Kr (which for you brits is 60GBP, and for those across the ocean, is $94!!) and that was in a regular mall store (
    Thank God for expenses, lol

    Hi Guys
I recently brought a hi milage (112,000kms) VFR 750fv in the hopes of rebuilding the motor. I paid $3300 NZD delivered. Turns out the motor is still strong and the bike appears to have been stored in a garage. For NZ this was cheap, normally a 97 vfr going is for $4000 - 5500 for tidy with low milage

Quick question Mads.a, (probably stupid, I know nothing about EU monetary policy), You don't use or deal in Euros?
That aside, I paid R17000 for my 4th gen, which was a good price. Last VFR1200 I looked at was R180000. Of the top of my head, our Rand is about 11 to the Dollar and 14 to the Euro.

On a new bike in Denmark we have to pay 180% tax, even on used bike we got high tax.

And yes in Europe "we got euro" but not Denmark WE WONT HAVE IT :mad-new:

Is the tax only on bikes, or cars too? And is there any particular reason for it? AFAIK you have no motor manufacturing industry to protect, is it simply to discourage vehicle ownership and turn people towards alternative forms of transport.

Yes on cars to, in Denmark the tax i very high, on the other side "we got Obama care":smile-new: you don“t have to pay for staying on hospitals or going to the doktor. For the last month I have been a lot to the doktor and hospitel for health check and x-ray and it is all for free.
We also only have to pay road tax on one bride between Fyn and Sjaelland, all other roads and higways are free. You can get a free education.
