Does any one know if I can swap the rear wheel from a VF1000 onto a VF750. The 1000 is a much wider 17 inch wheel and tire than the 18 inch from the 750.

From everything I've compared visually, it looks like it would. I'm actually getting ready to find out myself for the next VF750 I'm going to build. Looks like you've got the parts to find out as well. You will definitely need a shock that has ride height adjustment if you plan on going that route to make up for the diameter difference, the 750 is already pretty squatty in the rear.

The rear tire on the 1000 looks so wide compared to the 750. I think it would look great. I will measure and compare heights. And I now have a complete VF1000F parts bike. I was going to rebuilt but, just toooooooooo much wrong with it. Sat outside for many years after being dumped. water in carbs and one cylinder, all panels are cracked or broken, tank is wrecked and rusted.
I do need a few parts on the 750 so I will rob what I need for the 750. I still want a running/project 1000 so the hunt continues. The hunt is half the fun!!!

The VF1000F rear wheel is 3 1/2 wide and I did this swap years ago before a F2 wheel swap . It looks stock .

The reference of F2 is the CBR 600 F2 model beginning in the early nineties . These wheels have two important features for retro fitting , the rear is not too wide for a 150 radial which is about all the chain will allow ,and the front has a mechanical speedo drive for older bikes . The front will accept the best of the best rubber , this is huge . By the way , I have kept the 16/17 polished wheels on the shelf with used front and nearly new rear radials ready to bolt on a 750 . If anyone close would be interested I would sell very reasonably , I am sure shipping would prohibitive . Good Luck , Veefnf

What size tire did you run with the Vf1000 rear wheel?

    Thanks

I wish I could recall ! It' has been 20 yrs . I would check but they are in my storage building . As I remember there were zero options for a radial rear in the narrow 18" size of the time , so the 1000 wheel allowed a couple of choices of radial rears to go work with 16" front Dunlop sportmax radials of the time. I am going to say 150 mm wide but this is known already as the limit, [ I acknowledge there are some skinny "160"s out there ] . It is important to match your tire to it's recommended rim width . The tire market has changed in this period of time so the choices are probably better in the radial market .Keep in mind the 3 1/2" rear rim is the same as todays standard front wheel width . It is my experience that there is no greater improvement on these bikes than the F2 f&r wheel substitution . Veefnf

Yes you can use a 1000 rear wheel on a 750. I think the largest tire you can us is a 150 max because of inside swing arm dimensions.
