While on a search for well nuts (Those rubber things with the threaded insert that Honda uses to secure the fairings) I was able to find a local shop here in Anaheim, coincidentally right across the street from where I used to work! Anyway, instead of paying $1.50+ for one connector, I paid $14.15 for a box of 25 ($.56 ea.) P/N: 16248 (M5-.8 / .665 length)

Here is a link to their website: http://www.clipsandfasteners.com/Nuts_Well_s/138.htm

    Cheers

Bolt Fasteners have these and fairing clips for similar prices. I think their fairing clips are actually better than OEM

I only saw the windscreen kits (bolts+well nuts), not the well nuts by themselves at Bolt. But maybe the let you buy them separately. Have you purchased just the well nuts alone from them before Randy? either way just another outlet to find fasteners.

Consider that fastners can be very different for different bikes including VFR of different vintage. Ain't one single well nut on any of my bikes OEM or as a replacement.

I did fix my waffle iron with one recently..

Gawd! The only place those well-nutz have a place is on a windscreen! I hate having to deal with them on motorcycle body work, its just an engineer shurking their duty and cheaping oot. My Mach 1 got zero of them things, even on the windscreen. Got some nice 1/4 turn chrome d-zus ones on my lower inner cowl (down near the wheel.) Mis-appropriated them from a triumph, never saw them again...

Good find on that Anheim store though, Far as fixing appliances, I did re-solder the connection on my moms egg poacher, never messed with waffling around as you gota be to the point ; ) plus trying to watch my calories as I am a vain bastard :waco:

Good stuff at that site. Nice if shipping were part of the price structure. Black nylon nuts and bolts on my windscreen. Where the Honda shops nail ya is on those push rivets. Any autoparts store has em by the box.

For as long as Honda has been making the V4's, it would seem that they might be just a little different.

Me waffler is a Cuisinart. The heat control knob came apart. The epoxy got hot and failed. Tried to get Cuisinart to send me a new knob that is not on the parts list. No response. I called a parts place in San Fran and they told me that Cuisinart would not supply them with the part. The waffle iron exactly like mine now has a slider bar for a rheostat.

Do ya think maybe Cuisinart made those R/R's too?

Be nice to your mom.. it pays off..;)

It sure would be great if the mods et al would take a look once in awhile at the ad/promos and download links that get transferred to posts. Some are full of adware, malware and spyware and who the fuck knows what?

Got one now for a video download converter with a bigass button. Checked it out and downloaded it's some bad shit you do not want on your devices.

Finally got to my computer instead of that frikken phone shit thing. I just checked Bolt Fasteners site and could not find those well nuts there either. Maybe it was just the fairing clips and oil drain crush washers I bought from them. Don't know why they would not have the well nuts too.

Those well nuts are used in many applications though and are readily available around. Seems you found a spot as good as any. I know they are available at Home Depot, but you need to know the right size. The ones from Honda are stupid expensive. I think I am down to one or two in my box of junk so guess I should take the measurements and go get a few more.

But getting back to Bolt. Their push button Fairing clips are far better than those shit things Honda has put out. Although they do fit tighter than OEM. But they don't have those stupid tabs that break all the time. They are easier to open and close too than OEM.

Maybe I will surf around at the site you found and see what neat stuff I can get there. My paypal account is telling me to spend some Interceptor Crest funds.

Good info to know, I had one split, but fixed it with contact cement, seems to be holding. I will definitely order a supply.

    Well,
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Well_nut

    Nutz!

For the dudes who are using these where they use salt on the roads might want to buy stainless steel bolts to go in the brass inserts on many of the wellnuts sold. Not so much that your bikes are gonna look like the green stuff ya see on the chest of used Yugo sales dude who is still wearing a polyester leisure suit but more because if corrosion sets in they could be a little tough to unscrew.

Yes BB, and they can be an absolute bitch to get off. Ran into that with one. But I guess one in 100K miles and 8 years is not that bad. Since then, I have gotten into the habit of cleaning theh bolts every time I remove them and putting a few drops of TriFlo on the thread of the bolt before it goes back in. Haven't had the corrosion problem since. But the brass does tend to spin in the rubber or plastic sleeve from time to time making the replacement necessary. Guess a lot of it depends on how often you remove these bolts I guess.

My suggestion for the next time is to rent a sawzall or one of those Harley torque wrenches.

Now I'm wondering if I should have used a well nut to fix my waffle iron. Being far short of 100K waffles we may never know.

Maybe rather than using TriFlo on your nuts, we can get somebody to cast up some zinc anodes in the shape of a maple leaf and sell them to all the Canadians who well, are nuts too. This would be IMO the solution to both form and function.

Had to sign onto Mozilla to get the quote feature to work.

I am guilty of being a thread high jacker, gawd please forgive me.

I got a bottle of maple syrup I got when we visited the Niagra Falls, did both sides, the :canada: pulled a fast one on us fer sure.

I am going thru some appliance agida now, seems my new refrigerator needs a new freezer door, if that was not bad enough, now my new electric range is having problems keeping time, as the time changes/loses hours etc. If something goes wrong with them it seems the year warranty covers your arse. Anyway, what was this thread aboot? Well Nutz? Sheesh, try to bring that topic oot during the dinner table pleasantries.

Are motorcycles turning into appliances? There is a loaded question if I ever saw one.

First we must look to the etymology of the word "appliance." Harleys fit the description though less useful than waffle irons.

My nuts are fine. They are not appliances but more instruments promoting domestic tranquility. However do not request pix as evidence they exist. Others might but hopefully there will be only a few who shall remain unnamed.

My stove is gas.. A c. 1955 Chambers Range. Your freezer

door may just need a seal.. God is not in the appliance biz so you may have to fix it yourself..
