It is similar here, I can keep my licence as long as the sight in my remaining eye meets the required standard. I have left getting my eye tested until later this week as I wanted to get used to the field of vision I have left. At the moment my confidence level for driving is not high enough anyway. But it aint gonna beat me !!
The optic nerve is trashed so its game over for that one. I take numerous meds for my blood pressure (no a contributory factor in my sight loss) and at the moment I am on a couple of months of oral steroids to stem the inflammation from reaching the "Good" eye.

Wouldn't be so bad if I was getting old but I am a sprightly 52 !! LOL

I just want to say THANKS to everyone for all your support, wishes and suggestions for solutions to ease my transition back into riding. It means a lot to know that people who don't really know me care.

As bikers we often get bad press, sometimes justified but most of the time unfairly. Things like this restore my faith in us as a collective.

    Hey Guys & Gals

Just a small update. The eye is still the same, its not going to alter at all.

I have fitted my rear view camera and screen so I thought I had better post some pics

Here's the rear view camera fitted under the Top Box

LCD Screen mounted to the Sat Nav Bracket

Everything powers up through a relay so it only switches on with the ignition on. The lcd screen is easily removable by undoing the adjustment nut on the back of the waterproof case, the power is via a waterproof cigarette lighter socket so it can be unplugged and removed if I am off the bike. The sat nav is in its lockable bracket/carrier (I wouldn't leave it in there overnight, but its ideal if I call in to pay for fuel or get a coffee).

If I use a tank bag, I will move the screen onto the top of the bag and secure it with some heavy duty 3M Velcro pads.

I cannot ride (or drive) yet but I am getting everything in place ready for the day I swing my leg back over the bike and head out.

    Cheers people

    Carpy

i see a problem, it's just evolution, first there is a screen, then the question "how do i play porn on this?" then before you know it you are riding around watching porn. it's a slippery slope carpy, be careful.

Now you can wear a designer eyepatch. Maybe one with the 6th gen militia logo.

Do they seriously stick a needle right in to your for the injection Duccman. I suffered from something called a retinalschesis a little while back (like an air bubble under your retina that can pop and allow the fluid in your eye to migrate behind the retina and slowly detach it) and the doctors were able to stitch the retina back on using a laser. Just having that done bothered me but I can't imagine having a needle stuck in my eye on a regular basis.

    To DeadEyeDick

Very sorry to hear about what happened and wish you all the best in learning to ride again. Having the positive attitude toward your return to the biking world is great to hear and a lesson in perseverance for all of us. Way to go, and I for one look forward to hearing your next ride report. :)
