I agree, 7th Generation of the same model. I guess I need to get one, but not right now, but I will.

 

I'm planning on replacing my 5th-gen within the next few years, and my decision will almost certainly be between the VFR, 2014+ Ninja 1000, and the BMW S1000R. Hopefully 2015, but we'll see.

I would buy one maybe in a few years for $4500+ shipping total about %5300:tyrannosaurus::joker::stickhorse:, my 06 abs was $12000 new. Can't see any reason to buy a new anything. I all ways buy lightly used for half price.

 

Not bad pricing by Honda at all considering a the 2002 Honda Interceptor pricing.

Price is not bad I think. If I were to buy a new sport-touring bike, a viffer would be my first choice just for the V-4 engine alone.
I hate the name "ninja" plus is an inline 4. BMW parts and service are expensive.
I'd have to do a lot more research when it comes time to get another toy.

 

F800 and Ninja 1k are both way less interesting bikes in my opinion. I'm biased obviously, but I think there is some real substance to this and Honda knows it. The VFR has a very evident, but intangible character that these other two bikes specifically lack (I've ridden both).

 

If I was thinking of adding a bike to the garage (always thinking) the new Yamaha FZ09 triple cross plane looks to be a steal at $7990 IMO.

BTW The Yami triple is a like looking bike. And for the price it's RE-DONKULOUS!

 

Just like with my 07 Anniversary Edition there will be leftovers. I paid 6500.00 new.
In my area the 1200 can be had for 10,000.00 - 12,000.00 new. ( leftover 2010 models)

 

I can't dissagree about the economy situation but a big reason was Honda gave the dealers the incintive to move the 800s out was because the new 1200 had been introduced. Over a two year period of trying to deal on a 07 ,The dealer called me in 2010 with the deal I wanted with the reasoning of having to move them. We are fans of the Interceptor on this site, but seems a lot of buyers are more into the cbr race replica bikes and over look the VFRs all around performance. Almost every bike I've ever bought new I bought as two year leftovers at great discounts . Maybe I'm just the lucky one but I'm betting there will be leftovers two years from now.

 

Just sat on (and made vroom vroom noises) on the new FJR…. Although it looks super nice, its way to big and it costs a whole bunch of pesos to own. I think I would still prefer the VFR if they stay true to the 2009ish style.

 

Does it have a six-speed transmission now? Sure hope so, but I doubt it.

 

Nope. Does have flashy electronic suspension, though.

Think I'll stick to viffers, can't get enough of the V-4 symphony, but if the FJR had a six-speed transmission it would be a contender for my money.

 

I paid $10k for my brand new 1990 3rd gen!!! Waay back when it hit the streets in 1990. Since then a 35% increase over 24 years doesn't look bad on paper. The difference is in my disposable income which has actually shrunk over that time period as the cost of houses has more that tripled while incomes have flat lined. Of course the wife and kids entering the picture doesn't help either but I wouldn't change a thing if I had another shot at it.

Luckily for us, there is an abundance of used machinery out there that can be had for a fraction of new and they come with options if you so desire. While it is nice to see a new model arrive on the scene, this recycled 6th gen with new clothes looks more like a CBR than a sport touring machine and used CBRs are also plentiful if that styling is what you crave. The VFR12 was a step in the right direction for the breed. It wasn't perfect but it was a stronger and more versatile all day ride than this new machine will ever be. I would have preferred a revised VFR12 over this recycled 800. Perhaps an option which kept both bikes so we have a proper sport touring machine and then take the 800 and install inverted forks, lightweight everything and make it a track weapon VFR to honor its heritage.

For now my cash rests safely in the hands of the tax man as always so my 07 will have to suffice and I'm ok with that.

My 91, yes the famous mach 1 91 of interstellar fame and not of any specific generation since the begats started begetting was $6200.00 US.. oot the door with a Yoshimura can and no seat cowl. Those at the time were $100.00

 

meh on the Interceptor, but that lil 650 is Bad Ass!!
