Bosch or Purolator filters and Shell Rotella T6 5W-40 oil. I like the Purolators because they have a rough finish and don't require a wrench to take off.

Not to beat a dead horse, but I would like a final opinion on this before I go get the stuff for my change tomorrow night. I am planning on running a Fram filter, with a change to Mobil 1 15/50 Synthetic. This sound about right?

Definitely no on the FRAM. Their filters are crap. Bosch, Purolator One, or Mobil filters are better options. The oil weight seems kind of high, but if you're in a warm climate, it'll be fine.

So. What's the difference in cost between the cheap Fram amd the OEM for the sake of one maybe two oil changes a year. If you ca't afford that dollar or two, can you afford the bike. Same woth cheap oil. I am going to a popular cheaper oil but I also use the same oil in my truck which takes 10 quarts or so. Just saying.

Cost isn't the issue, it's the "acquiring" of the OEM filter. Not as easy to get here, however worth a look as well.

Delay that oil change for the few days it will take to order your choice of filters. There are data from Honda on which multi-viscosity and weight oil to use in various climes. Lots of dudes here use the Shell Rotella.

Switched mself from Semi-synthetic on my 91. No leaks no problems ever and I still do not have to top up between changes.

Although controversial, a state which I avoid (LOL) I run a Scott's all steel filter. About the price at the time of half a dozen Honda filters that were probably made by whoever makes Fram filters in some backwater.
