I weighed the stock muffler from my '99:
    5.0kg

Now you can all work out the weight savings you'll get when replacing the muffler. :)

    Add on update,

Since I installed the danmoto on my 99 I have put about 200miles on. All is good with it. Still love the way it runs and sounds. It opened up the azzhole of my vfr and really did give it more kick. Now, yesterday I decided to do an oil change. When I pulled the left side plastic off I found an coolant leak in the worst possible place. It was right in the heart of V. Just a little drip off the hose that comes of the thermostat that leads the the left side. Just needed to tighten the hose clamp but to get at it I had to take the tank off. And I had to take the airbox off. Well, the last screw on the last velocity stack stripped off. That beitoch was a beitoch to get off. wound up spending a day and 1/2 and 2 trips to the hardware store and a trip to sears to get that sucker out. Dirlling, dirlling, busted knuckles, cussing, drilling, and IMPACT drilling, and finely extracting (btw, ACE hardware has a perfect fit replacement screws for the stack).

Anyway, before I buttoned everything back up I decide to delete to airbox snorkel. I pulled that sucker out and went for a ride. WTF! EUREKA! Wide open exaust + K$N air filter + open airbox = shlitz my pants. Sitting still you can hear the airbox breathe. And when I twist the grip it screams. No flat spots, nothing but power all the way up. No lie, but the front end comes up a little in 2nd....enough to bounce the front wheel off the ground a little. It takes less "choke" on a cold start as well. All it needed was some air. It's more of a beast now.

I've read all the threads about airbox mods and flappers and such. All I did is add an open exhaust, K$N, & remove the snorkel and I can say in this case more air worked.

I just took the mufflers off and run straight pipes. Massive weight savings. The cops love me now too!

Yea, I bet they do. I took mine off last year for a day at Delmarva Bike Week. I'd pull up to a pack of Harleys and they'd all be looking at each other trying to figure where that dragster sound was coming from. It's all you could hear.

This thing is frakin loud. Babies jump up and run when I pass by. Ear plugs are not enough. It sounds like a dinosaur getting his balls cut off with a chainsaw. Its gotten louder since I put some miles on it.

I know what you mean by it getting louder after a few miles as I've experienced the same thing in the past after doing a really long super-slab run. It must compact the glass pack or something, not sure why but they do get louder.

I like the look of the pipe. It's got that clean raw race ready look as opposed to the bling factor tinted corbotanium pipes with fancy machined and polished end caps that are common place these days.

Now you are the god of hell fire and let the sinners beware! LOL

Don't know if the OP still responds to this thread. On the off chance he does....

I'm leaning heavily towards this pipe for my '98 and would love an update as to how it worked out for you over the long term. Is it still on the bike?

    Cheers!

This is my shameless plug for the Delkevic, since I have tested it over the long term. It is stainless, a high mount pipe, with an easily removable baffle and a rubber stop for the center stand. Have had it for 3 years and still has not gotten louder, and cleans up easily and looks brand new. Makes the bike sound pissed off. Not bad for $150. image.jpg
