after chattin with camilla bout her 88 viffer weve come up with a plan. the plan is this year to collect all the bits wee need to bring it back up to new condition with a few additions. these additions are goin to be to the running gear and engine. so i have a question well a few actually.
is there a newer front end, forks etc thatll fit to give better suspension and brakes and is there a swingarm and rear wheel combination that will give us the use of a 180 tyre ?
engineerin aint goin to be a problem so any spacers or steerin stem issues are easy to sort. anyone done somthin like this or got any good ideas ?
next is the engine, this ones done 110k. shed like to fit an 800 out of somthin so what engine options are availible for her ?

    cheers all

Fitting a 180 reAR not a good idea, will not fit rim or swingarm.
WITH STOCK front wheel @ 110/120 max. Not a good-handling bike. Never mix radials with bias-ply, and no raDIAL fits proppaly on that OEM front rim. R U daft, my good man ??

Wheel swap threads can be found but if you want to swap wheels AND the engine to later model then save yourself the hassle and get a later model bike. Just say'n.

A newer bike can fit a 180, but not that bike, no way; and it wouldn't handle right if you could.

cheers for that toecutter :tickled_pink: at least i know its fairly easy and dont look difficult at all. is the f2 front end fitted in those pics ? not knowin the bike very well i cant tell the differnce at the mo.
with the front end swap, is it a case of swappin the forks or do you need the yokes as well ?bike looks great and cant wait to get on with it to camillas bike. is there any chance i can have a parts list of what you used so they can be gathered together ready for the winter rebuild

Fashion over function wins again ?? :cower:

She might be crazy like many gf's or just like to dream about larger sizes;180 fatty is a fad that's a bit old. Too many fancy-pansy TV bike customization shows makes some over-eager to start hacking up clean OEM bikes.

    Hi
As you're in the Uk, rather than swap the steering stems over. Just use a 88/89 set of yokes.
They're 41mm like the cbr600 forks. If you use the f2 wheel, Just use the cbr right hand wheel spacer.
    Just re read original post...
    You already have an 88.
Cbr forks will go straight in then.

    Roger
