    1985 VF1000F with 15KM on it.

Came across something interesting the other day while buying some more parts. I was talking to the Parts manager where I get parts and when I said I was looking for parts for a VF500 he asked if I was interested in a VF1000F with 15km on it still under warranty. seems when they were moving the shop they came across one still in the crate that has been sitting there since 85 berried behind a crap load of old stock and forgot about. He said the shop owner would take $6000 for it and still has the 2 year warranty. They have it all together and is sitting on display in their old bike collection.

I hope you have already bought it. Seems like a very rare opportunity.

I wish, I'll get the 500 done first and maybe next summer save up some cash and try and buy it.

Pictures please!!! That is cool but the warranty part is a joke. You can't warranty something that you can no longer get parts for. I'd love to see it cleaned up and out in the light.

Nice looking bike for sure. But not 6 grand worth. I guess he doesn't really want to sell it or he's waiting for the "sucker born every minute" guy to walk thru the door. Now if it was an "R" bike then that would be a fair deal.

I think it's great there are still great bikes like that waiting to be found. I'd just like to find some!

C'mon, nobody wants any VF at that price !! You can buy far better bikes, good-running gens 2-3-4, for far less and have a good ride. Bikes like one that are NOT for actual riding, geat for your museum ! A bike for antiques collectors or museums, too fine to ride, too outdated in tech to be good to ride. That's buying into Very Outdated Technology imo.

LOL now that's funny right there. Your comparing an RC30 to the VF1000F? May be you should research both bikes history and find out why the RC30 is that much. Now if the 1000 had oval pistons then you would be in the ball park. Other wise your just in the parking lot........alone.:potstir:

Thanks MPH for taking the time to share that bike with us. It's an unbelievable find. If the owner really wanted to sell it, he could list it on Rare Sportbikes For Sale and dump it in a heart beat. 6k sounds totally reasonable for what it is. If you don't get that old things, whether it's watches or bikes, get big money when they're mint then you just don't get it. You don't need to feel bad...you just don't get it. To compare a VF1k with a modern bike is silly. A 2014 Camaro has it all over a 1970 Camaro in every way...but one...cool factor. You don't have to but there are some who have no problem dropping 6 figures on a 40 year old car that they always dreamed of as a kid. Does it handle like a modern car? No. Do they care? No.

It's doesn't matter if it's an F, R or a 550 Four, it's only original once and at 15km out of the crate, that is one hell of a find for those that get it. To the right buyer, 6kCAD could get you a FourTraxx Rancher or a museum VF1000F. As a second toy, there's someone out there that would take the bike they once dreamed of over the quad any day. They will hopefully ride it on occasion and I bet good money that they will love every single second they're doing it. Not sure how anyone can begrudge that.

My original RC-30 (that I ordered in 90) is up for auction again. When I lost my job 3 weeks after I ordered it and got my money back they put it in the back of the warehouse till the dealerships owner put it in his collection. He passed away 7-8 years ago and they sold the collection. The current owner payed $25,000 cdn for it and is now selling it for a min bid of $29,000 cdn. The last mileage on the bike was something like 217 km. I have to win the lotto and buy my bike back.

That is what keeps us buying lotto tickets brother!
I personally think that UK bike is priced optomistically but what do I know. These waters are way deeper than I'm allowed to swim in.
