Could be the way the centerstand mates with my Acro slip-on too.

 

i think that most any large displacement sport bike would also bottom out in the situations where my VFR does ( with my "large displacement" riding it !! ) the new rear shock will help some...the Ohlins fork springs did

 

The only issue with the suspension or clearance, at all, is the preload, which is the same for most stock Japanese bikes. You need proper springs for your weight, which will stiffen it up and make it ride as intended.
