Agreed! 1.5 hour ride to waco, relax in a truck for a while until you get here, and then a ~4 hour ride around the hills. Then just a matter of going back.

You know it is a damn fine offer and I had been studying it with every intent on making it work but the timing is still off. I live up here by the Oklahoma border. It's more like a 2.75 hour ride to Waco from here, on a good day and I would be totally whacked out on the way back. You don't know how much I appreciate the offer though. If this week (and next) were normal work weeks it would be and easy choice but the days have been really long and I am not done yet.

    Ahh Hell, I'm out now.

Daughter's tennis team won today so they move forward and have to play tomorrow in a Tournament. She wasn't scheduled to play in a match, but one of the girls hurt her ankle today, so now my daughter is filling in for her in a Double's match.

Other people crashed, 1/2 full beer cans were thrown, and general insanity ensued. Pics coming soon

Been to the area probably a dozen times and have never had a problem. Saw two crashes, one requiring care flight, and reista and I had a beer can thrown out of a truck window at us.

But there was lots of great roads great conversation nice weather and, most importantly, barbecue. And that covers up a multitude of sins.

On a side note, Harley trikes are an affront to all that is good in this world. If you ever find yourself considering owning one of these things its time to stop and reflect on the parade of poor choices you've made in life.

You guys had beer thrown out at you??? Was this guy the shareing sort or the dick head sort??? I had to stop 6 more times after we split to get that job rolling... Dino and I split up shortly after we hit I-10, then I had to stop for phone business... 10-15 min late Dino shows up to where Im stopped and said his GPS was screwed up and brought him back to the exit that I was at LOL... I got back to Austin around 8.

Yes, yes... trikes are an abomination... especially ones that are doing way less than the speeding limit  I had a great time (till my work joy killed me at the end). Definately have to do this again. Pics to come soon

Ok lemme give this a shot. I cant wax poetic like Stuk or like the Reg but Ill give this a try..

Saturday meet up at a little quaint café in Pipe Creek. The breakfast food there was excellent. Great way to start the day. Unfortunately it was a fridged 54 degrees. I was told by Seantx that I was cheating by having heated gear...Well I say "if you aint cheating, you aint trying or riding". (When I left Austin it was 45 degrees)

Bunch of hooligans: (left to right) Dino1, Seantx, diVeFR, Reista and lady Reista

Well it warmed up nicely on the ride. Lots and lots of twisties :biggrin-new: The speed of travel was spirited. I brought a GoPro to video/take pics but for some reason it crapped out on the trip. This is our first gas stop on the ride.

In case your wondering, Dino did do a run after Seantx but the camera took to long to download onto the memory stick. I asked if he wanted to do another run at the turn and he declined.

Well the ride was over and the day was almost done. We worked up an appetite. We stopped a a BBQ joint and refilled our guts.....mmmmmmm smoked brisket, sausage and chicken...Texas style

On the ride, zero performance awards given.:triumphant:

Sorry for the guys that missed out. We did discuss doing another ride in late February when it warms up again. Id be so down for another ride.

Thanks for taking point on pics and the report. Was a great time for sure. Would like to get an earlier start next time and do "the loop" 2 or 3 times if possible.

Spoke to my cousin (the one who punked out at the last minute) Sunday night and we will probably be going there again mid-Nov if temps stay decent.

Awesome ride! Maybe next time. I did have to work on Saturday but I managed to get in a good ride as part of the day so at least not all was lost.

Hey guys, just joined the forum/bought a VFR today and late to this thread, but did the twisted sisters 2 years ago and almost got hit by a deer on my SV1000, I put it on youtube. I had to sit on the side of the road and relax for 30mins........

    http://youtu.be/Xuumb6m8Si0

Had a blast. We stayed in Kerrville on Holiday Inn points. Did the sisters in June. Stopped at every fresh spring and jumped in to cool off, and stopped at some bar at the last of it and had a few cold ones.

I would have had to either clean my pants after that or someone would have to pull the seat out of my ass.

You mean they have springs on the sisters??? The speed we were going I didn't dare look anywhere except the road lol.

There are springs. The weather wasn't really conducive for it when we were there. :smile-new:
During the summer you will find them easily. There will be lots of folks stopping at them to cool off.

rode the 3's last week on the 07 red white blue and had a great time. was reading a post about beer cans being thrown. iv'e been riding the hill country 2 or 3 times a month for years and have had no problems. iv'e seen tailgating, passing on blind curves, passing in yellow zones and strings of "bikers" in groups of 15 or 20, riding 25 or 30 mph and hogging the road, now that will cause a can to fly or a one fingered wave.
most of the locals will pull completely off the road and wait to let a motorcycle or group pass, of course a wave of thanks is generally returned with a wave back.
anyone wanting to ride the hill country let me know i'll ride with you. Living in Helotes and having an understanding wife also being retired i can ride anytime.
