Ok. Im thinking about getting a fender eliminator kit for the 06 VFR800 ABS. People tell me that the stock stops crud and wet stuff from kicking back onto the rider's back. True?

These are all the mods I want to do. Opinions please:

    * Remove stock fender and replace with a fender eliminator (keeps license light)
    * Get a rear hugger (Can anyone recommend a company in the us. Only found UK so far. Im in the USA)
    * remove the passenger handles and replace with the included plugs. (opinions please.)

    Thanks.

I just ordered the eliminator kit that keeps the license light. I also removed the passenger handles and put the lpugs in. Looks a lot better. No luck on a rear hugger though. Been looking for one myself. If you find anything let me know.

Will do. I just dont understand why people say removing the fender will cause my back to get crud on it. Does the stock license plate holder stop it that much? Can someone explain.

Well I have the comp werks fender eliminator kit on my 05 and haven't had any dirt or crud on my back at all. I did notice that the rear lights et a lot of dirt on them as a result of not having the fender on

ive got the fender eliminator, taken the handles off, but no hugger. you MIGHT get a little dirtier if you ride in the mud or rain or something, but for just street use dont worry about it. Wash the taillights when you wash the bike. A ton of riders have this done, if they were all getting filthy, it wouldnt be half as popular.

Those mods make the bike look a lot more sleek! Good luck!

I chopped my fender down and move the licence plate up as far as it would go and added an LED plate lite. (See gallery) Also I added a hugger too.
There is more dirt and gunk that ends up on the tail lights, but havent noticed any crud hitting me in the back. I havent ridden in the rain yet, so we'll see how that goes.

The hugger is a Peramid Plastics product.(England) I dont recommend it. The plastic is too flimsy and sometime hits the tire. I cut it in half over the weekend to try to get it to settle down some. It doesnt look good but should work better.

Just ordered one from red-fox.com. It is supposed to be better and thicker plastic.

If your talking abour a hugger - let us know how it comes out. I may be looking for a plan B. I have a Penske shock and its worth having a hugger to keep the gunk off it.

I'm going to install a Powerbronze on my 01 and use mellodude's fender mod(very functional). If the hugger is flimsy, sand it and slap on some glass and paint flat black. I'll let you know how it works. I'm putting Pazzo levers on it(not sure if I want shorties or long) and Helibars. Genmar's scare the hell out of me with so little metal hanging on.

I have the kit as well and have ridden in hard rain, it won't hit you. It does get taillight more dirty though definitely and pipes a bit. Those huggers kind of scare me with SSSArm, wish I had a Penske to protect!!! . I put back on handles for bungee points, left cowl off due to Sargent clearance. The eliminator is a clean look IMO, good luck.

I went to www.red-fox.com and was going to buy one but $169 is an insane price for a plastic hugger.

Thats the cheapest you're gonna find one unless you are gonna make it on your own.

I payed somewhere around $170 for mine - pretty stiff, especially since it goes together half assed. I may have to break down and design my own.

    Hi,
I also have a '98 VFR and was looking around for under tails and huggers and
found this place www.superbikestore.com I live only a few miles miles from
their shop in annarbor michigan. Also I believe 1tail has fender eliminators for
    the 5th gen VFR.
