    Hello All,

Just sold my Suzuki SV1000S and now in the hunt for a 6th gen. Wife wants to go for longer rides and I want sportyness at the same time. Reading up about the VFR, I can say it has the best of both worlds. I narrowed it down from 2006-2009yr models and I found a couple around where I live but there are a few hundred dollars over NADA.

First: 2008 Silver w 5500miles on it, all stock except for aftermarket exhaust. Asking $6900

Second: 2007 Anniv edition RWB w 9900miles, all stock. Asking $6900

Third: 2007 Red with 6000 miles, all stock. Asking $5800.........seller won't call me back so this one is in limbo

There are a couple of more I am looking at but they have 25,000+ miles on them and are around the $5000 range.

I know these are just asking prices, and I am sure I can get them cheaper when I show them the NADA values for my area, but I wonder why so expensive. I am in no rush and don't need one asap, so I will just take my time and find the right one. I am excited to start scanning this forum for valuable info and start my journey into VFR'dom. Thanks for reading!!

Love the RWB myself. The bikes easily do 100,000miles+ so if a good buy shows up, I wouldn't stress over 25k

Buy it. The RWB is the best colour scheme of them all.

I am leaning towards the RWB Anniv edition, but it is almost $800 over NADA value. I don't feel like overpaying.........

Please allow me to play devils advocate for a minute and say the following. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but when it comes to buying a used bike, car, truck, plane, etc, etc, there are only two people involved the buyer and the seller. Regardless of what you or someone else might think the value of the bike really is, the one who will eventually determine its value for sale is the "Seller" and the only one who can decide how much to pay is the "Buyer"

When it comes down to which bike you choose, you have to weigh the pros and cons and decide how much you want to pay. If the seller agrees, great, if not, then you will have to either bargain or go elsewhere. The best deal to be made is one where both the buyer and seller come away form the experience feeling good.

As for which bike to purchase, I am also a fan of the RWB. Keep in mind that just because the seller is asking $6900 does not mean he won't sell for less. If you like the RWB then make the owner an offer and see what happens. As has been said, a VFR with more than 25,000 miles would just be considered "Broken In"

Good luck with your search and don't forget to post up pics of your eventual purchase.

Another vote for the RWB, but as a 6 Gen owner and someone who brings his wife along from time to time, unless your wife is really a trooper and can handle the stock seat, you may want to also think about getting a custom seat. I bought a Sargent seat as it seemed like the way to go at the time, in hindsight I probably should have had a custom one built by a local upholsterer, the Sargent works OK for me but my wife can only stand to be on for so long, although it is more comfortable than the stock seat. Ironically, last year she spent 3 days on the back when we attended the R3 event and really didn't say a peep until only a few miles from home, but now she complains a little more about the seat. It is a great bike, not only for me when I'm solo, but also when riding with the wife. Note too that we aren't "heavy weights", together our weight is just shy of 300 lbs. and I should also add if you do plan to do a lot of two up riding, invest in suspension upgrade (springs and valving front/rear). I had mine revamped by member and VFR suspension guru, Jamie Daugherty and it cost me less than $600 at the time. A very worth while investment!

:welcome: to the nuts house, glad to have you
I like the 08 SWORD SILVER.......I am with ZOOOM ZOOOM
They can ask as much as 1 mil but is it worth it for you? Those price you saw are over price
I have seen several for less than 5K, take your time and look for the right bike. When the bike speak to you then pull the trigger.

another +1 on the RWB. If you plan on keeping a stock paint scheme, then RWB is the best one in a while IMO. It's prob the only 6th gen I would buy. Just another FYI. On those low mile bikes, the recc service is coming up and will add another 600-800 to what you are going to put out (although many people skip the initial valve check I am told).

Prices are a bit high. I think if you take your time, you an do better.

Sorry. I don't speak American What is NADA? Is that like dealer wholesale value? if so, I wouldn't even mention it because it means very little in the private world. Use things like Craigs List, and other on line sites for getting price comparisons and make a reasonable offer based on the research you have done on the other sites. Like what was mentioned here already, there are two prices to consider. Seller's and buyer's. The end result is likely to be somewhere in between. If the seller is not willing to move on the price, it should be obvious he is not really interested in selling and is just testing the waters. If your offer is stupid low, then same thing. Seller will think you are testing the waters too.

Everything else being equal, get the RWB. I didn't like them at first but they have grown on me. If mine ever packs it in, I think I will be hunting for one of those. If you like washing your bike, get he wheels coated white. Looks razor sharp on the RWB. Otherwise leave them the colour they are. Brake dust does not show on the stock colour.

    Good luck.

If you think $800 is a lot of money, don't buy a VFR. - The cost of a valve adjustment will kill you.

Any of these bikes ABS? I myself went with a non-ABS '09 and I've always regretted it.

I'd go with the '08. Exhausts for these bikes are not cheap, and you definitely want to let that sweet V4 sing. Some manufacturers are discontinuing the VFR exhausts, so your choices are getting narrowed down. Also, the silver hides scratches really well. A good coat of wax and they look amazing. The wife and I have logged a fair amount of miles on our '08 and I can totally recommend this bike as a 2-up tourer... especially with the hard bags.

$800 is $800, I'd rather have it in my pocket than in his. $800 can buy lots of farkles............

I will offer $6000 for the RWB and see what he says...........If no, then press on. Like I said, I am in no hurry. I also found another 2007 red with topcase, exhaust, 15,000miles asking $5800. I am not sold on the color, but it is a much better deal than the RWB

I like the Red VFR, but the Silver would be my choice. I would also try getting the price down to $6k - call me cheap, but you never know so why not try. Silver IMHO is a great color that is neutral to match with and does not look too bad when it gets dirty and hides scratches well - again IMHO. I never liked the RWB color scheme at all. Pic of my 05 Grey VFR below.

If there is one big argument against the RWB color scheme, it might be in finding replacement fairings the same color, should you well, do the unthinkable, and scratch, scuff, dent, or drop the bike. Not that ANYONE has ever done THAT. Nooooooooooooo.

In this case the singular color bikes like silver, or red, etc, would be easier to repair as they are one color.
