    sup ya'll?

so, we all know about the notorious VTEC range of noises. besides the usual v twin rattle.
i own a 2008 VTEC model with 56+ kilometres (roughly 35K miles). i absolutely adore that machine but lately i've noticed a strange rattle/ticking sound.
now, i'm already familiar with the knock from a loose clutch basket when cold starting the bike, which goes away completely when the bike heats up, so i ruled that one out.
i'm also familiar with valves ticking noise in a v twin engine from my previously owned SV650.
but this noise is like something i've never heard before and quite frankly, it's disturbing.
i wasn't able to recreate the noise in a stand still, it only happens after i ride the bike for the first time after being parked for a few,
it happens only while on the move, with the clutch pulled in, and it goes away once i engage the clutch back in and get on the gas again.
my mechanic wasn't able to recreate the noise when i arrived at the shop and told him to take her for a ride.
btw - now he thinks i'm a looney who hears noises and trips over nothing lol
    i'm thinking CCT...
    any ideas?

    thanks in advance.

here's a youtube link for ya. it's short, but the noise is deff' there. sounds somewhat like a chopper (not the bike, the air born one).

Look like you know your bike and do some home work, I guess you have check the chain for proper slack
Some of the member here do have the same problem with noise and most point to Cam tension...

    Thnx for the replay :)
I adjusted the slack on the chain not so long ago, so that can be rulled out. Moreover, the noise comes from the front end of the bike, which made me think it's a fan related issue, but the fan only comes on when temp reaches 100 celcius (212f) and the noise comes on way before that so i ruled this one out.
I know vtecs, and hondas in general, are notorious for cct problems so i'm pretty sure that's the source, but if there's something else, it never hurts to ask.

    Thnx again for the replay

Have you try to check the flaper valve on the air box and try to use different oil like Mobil 1? Just some suggestion before any major work.

    Hey, thnx for the replay.
I forgot to mention that i did the PAIR sensor/snorkel/flapper mod. Think it's related? The oil is fairly new. Previous owner did a big one on it, including oil change, sprokets and drive chain.
Could the noise be coming from the flapper valve?
