    Hello All;

    Anybody have any experience, good, bad, or otherwise with the more recent versions of Ducati ST-3?

    I'm interested in ride quality, engine performance, handling in the twisties, Touring ability, and general reliability (I'm sure it won't be as good as the VFR in this catagory)

    I have a local dealer who has been very good and the bikes look cool and have a super suspension.

    Any Ducati Gotchas? Quirks?

    Thanks:smile:

    Ducati st was what made me buy a vfr. have no experience with the new ST3
    had the fortunate oportunity to ride a St 2 for a couple of weeks absoulutly fell in love with the thing like it was made for me convinced me to sell my zx-10 not as sporty as vfr but a little more comfy ride, better for 2up more low end grunt . went shopping found a new 05 was worth almost 1and half times a vfr ! after riding vfr i couldent justify the extra money. owning a ducati from every thing iv heard is like a harley get to know a good mechanic! really hard to compare a viffer with a duc such a different feel between power plants even though the hp is close :crazy:

    There nice to ride, but don't trust them for long distance riding, & being a Duc owner, you must have a deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep pocket.

    I did ride my friends, When deciding on a new sport tourer (closer to the sport factor) & Ck'd out getting the '06 VFR, & the Triumph ST Sprint.

    Got the Sprint "NOT" linked ABS:biggrin: & I'm very happy with it, & my friend that "HAD" the ST3, sold it & bought the '07 Sprint after ridding mine.
    The only down side of the Sprint is hot air on the legs, great in Winter but hotter day's suck's, so I exhaust wrapped them & problem gone & it p/u 1.8HP on the dyno to boot.

    My buddy rides one. He's fixed his up to be more sporty and he hangs with me or I with him at 9/10 riding. He's faster on top. It looks more uncomfortable to me but he is smaller so I don't think it bothers him. The dry clutch bothers me, but the exhaust note is very nice. It seems to tear up more than a VFR to me. That's about all the experience I have with them. Never got on board myself.

    Test rode the ST3 ... different animal .. V-twin. It didn't work for me; I felt I was riding on top of this machine and not a part of it. Biggest problem ... it roasted my legs (air temp only in the 70's). After about 20 minutes, it put my right hand to sleep. And lastly, it is more $$. Although, $$ wasn't the deciding factor. Loved the looks of the VFR and after a short ride (and five hours of haggle :( ...) I bought the VFR and I've never looked back .....:first: .
