I'm about to buy a Danmoto exhaust for my 99. For $170 bucks with the DB killer it's worth a try, no? If it turns out to be a dud I'll just put the stock pipe back on. Talk me out of it if I'm about to waste my money. From what I've read as long as I stay away of the carbon fiber one it should hold up fine. Thanks.

Carbon Fibre pipes are "da bomb" dude. Once you have one, you'll never go back.

I'm very interested in what you think about it if you get one. I've been looking at those too for my 2000.

I have a Dan Moto GP exhaust system. The system is not of titanium but of stainless steel but the weld look surgical. It's great-looking goes on very easily and fits well but it's the loudest thing I've ever heard in my life. I took a 2000 mile trip with it on my bike and even with earplugs couldn't stand the amount of noise. It's available-for-sale and I'll sell it cheap if you're interested in it.

Well, I installed a Danmoto Titanium GP today. I will say this, it sounds like no other pipe I've ever heard. It's not a piece of jewelry like other other pipes. It reminds me of a midevil battle ax. Not fancy but looks damn good and sounds like a beast. I ordered the baffle but I doubt I will use it. I don't think it's to loud (if it's to loud you're to old). I'm not going to post a sound clip because that's been done before. I will say it sounds better in real life than any other exhaust I've heard on any bike. Internet videos of how it sounds don't do it justice. It's also really light...like 4 pounds. I can curl it with my pinky finger.

OK, here you go....some pics. I really wish the temp here in PA would go above freezing. We have snow on the ground so I can't really go for a good ride. I did take it out for a quick ride right before the snow started. It really does sound good. I just need to get out on the open road so I can really get it good and hot.

The welding looks exceptional. The muffler looks like it's a straight shot through without much baffling. Is it on the loud side?

Yes, it a straight shot through, you can see right out the other end. It's not just a hollow pipe. It does have glass packing behind the screen. I did order a removable baffle with it but did not use it. It's loud but not to loud (quieter than most Harleys), and at idle it's not loud at all. The sound is deep.

Thanks for the report. Hmmm, now I'm seriously considering one of these.

The welds are very nice. I bet it sounds nice, I like the V4 sound opened up.

On a side note. The new pipe does not have a bumper stop on it for the center stand. I had to rig a stopper by mounting a piece of rubber to the cross bar of the center stand. It now catches on the mid pipe clamp underside just enough to stop the stand. You can kind of see it in the 3 pic...the gold clamp seen right below the foot peg.

    Also,
I was told friend to stay away from their carbon fiber ones. And did see one pic on the web of one that was brunt out off a bike with under-seat exhaust (not on a VFR). The warranty paper also say burnt CF ones are not covered and not to dino a bike with their CF exhausts because high heat and lack of cooling can burn them.

    ***Road Test Update***
It was a nice warm day in PA today so I took the bike out for about a 100 miles ride with the new Danmoto today. Two words....awe some!!! I love it. It's loud in a good way. It's a deep badass cam'd up V8 sound. You can still hear the gears whine until you hit about 60mph or when you get the rpm's to about 7k. In town it's easy to keep it somewhat quiet by keeping it at 3.5k rpm's. My bike is stock but for a K&M air filter. It runs fantastic without doing anything. In fact, before the new can I could smell it was running little rich. Now, no gas smell at at all. It seems like it can putt around at lower rpm's and pull hard with no hesitation at all. And, it will scream WOT all the way to 9-10k quicker than before (at least is seem like it). I'm very pleased with it. IMO there is nothing else you can do to your bike for $155 shipped that will make you smile all day. I doubt if I'll install the baffle but if anyone decides to get one of these I do recommend getting the baffle just in case it to loud for you or your towns law enforcement folks. Now, I just need one of my buddies to do a couple ride-by's so I can see how it sounds being a spectator.

BTW, the titanium sleeve stays cool enough to grab with your bare hand after a ride. But I melted the cheap rubber furniture leg pad I used to rig up a center stand stopper at the mid-pipe clamp.

Oh yea it's lighter....a lot lighter. I don't know what the old one weighs but the new the new muffler is less than 1kg. With mid pipe and all mounting hardware it's in total just about 2kg (1 Kilogram = 2.20462262 Pounds). So it's about 4.5lbs. I know the stock pipe must weight at least 13 or 14lbs. That's perfect because I know I'll have gained at least 10lbs myself after all the Thanksgiving and Christmas food I ate.

It's obviously done with a jig; only a mechanical setup could get the welds so even.

I remember someone making a big deal about the DanMoto stuff on the Hayabusa forum, back when DanMoto was just entering the market. I thought it looked nasty then but it seems to have evolved to merely "agricultural" now. DanMoto mufflers look like something I'd expect to have seen touted as "cutting edge" Soviet technology during the 1970's.
