just tried to order a 190/55-17 ZR PR3 from my usual place, Competition Accessories, and they did not list it online...called up, out of stock, was told that they buy directly from Michelin and that all five N. American warehouses are out of stock ....i found one online from Chapparell for $191.00 ...be warned, supplies seem to be limited

That shouldn't be a problem, there are other tires that are better anyway. I suggest Michelins to be used for the track only where you can generate enough heat to make them work properly.

As far as I am concerned, the PR3 are no better than the PR2. I've run the PR3 for a complete season in the rain and crap I used to ride in, and they did not perform any better than the 2 as far as I could detect. Last time around, I went back to the PR2 because they were about $35.00 per tire cheaper. For what that is worth.

i got a second nail in mine, patched the first one...this one's a slow leak, and the tire's not really worth saving, i'll put the cost of repair toward mounting and balancing new one

I had the same problem when I ordered mine back in the spring from Star Cycle...National backorder. Took six or seven weeks to get them to my recollection. Fortunately I wasn't pressed at the time to get them. I was just dying to get rid of the wretched BT-021s.

    Agreed DD.
I'm not saying the PR3 is the best tire in the world BUT after riding 2K miles on the stock Bridgestone....they sure felt like they might be a contender for best tire in the world title. (Plus I really dig the look of the treads)

Just curious Randy, as I have read you comment on PR3s numerous times. What did you expect out of them? That you could ride across lakes and ponds and part the red sea all the while sippin' yer half-caf mocha latte with cinnamon and whipcream? :pope2:

The major points (which there are videos of) is the extra siping having a noticeable effect on hard braking with shorter distances in the rain. Not sure you have ABS, but even without, hard stopping is where the tires are likely to shine most. They also have the update dual compound technology which is supposed to give more even wear. I noticed that my front tire is less prone to cupping than with the PR2. Either tire is great, I am just saying I don't know if you have all of the data to evaluate that there is no benefit whatsoever.....or that you can detect as you said. A lot of automotive performance winter tires are given the added "siping" in order to create more bite in inclement weather as well.

I ran PR2s for years, and now I run the PR3s, however, in SoCal, rain is few and far between, and even then, it does not rain that hard. I do like feel of the PR3s, but I don't know if they do me as much of a benefit as they do something who resides in a wetter locale, they do seem to be wearing quite nicely (evenly) though.

Fair enough Stuke. I am not saying that the PR3 is a bad tire. I have no complaints about the set I ran at all. That extra siping or whatever the term is, I am sure in theory, and in finite testing, does show some improvement in traction in the wet. But does it perform enough to really make difference on the road with the normal rider. It may, just not enough for me to notice. I was expecting marked better traction on the highways with this tire and can't honestly say I noticed the difference it was so small. Similarly, gold electrical connections for your sound system, in lab testing, produces better quality sound. I have never noticed the difference myself so I go for a decent gauge speaker wires and preference to the RCA connectors. If the gold were the same price, sure I would get it. If the PR#'s were the same price. Again, sure I would get them. But my issue is that the extra price you pay for the PR3 over the PR2, is not worth the benefit you only really notice by reading their stats. And the new compound, unless something in their printed material has changes, they did not, in the past anyways, say it was different than the dual compound in the PR2. New is a subjective term in the advertising world. They have been selling new improved Dawn dish-washing detergent for something like 30 years now I think.

I do have ABS and love them on the bike. I have far less driving skills on the bike than I do in the car, so I take what I can get. I had the option on those and elected to get the bike with the ABS rather than the identical bike without.

As you know, I live in the world or rain and more rain. Puddling and laying water is my biggest concern. I have gone some into pretty odd places with vehicles as it pertains to water, streams and rivers for that matter, but not with the bike....yet. You say you get little rain down there and I am aware of that. Standing water I believe is the least of your concern. Wet road film is far more of a concern for you guys down there, and I don't think the PR3 has addressed that, or if the even can. We deal with the same issue to a far lesser degree here when we get the first rain of the fall season. After an hour of rain that is all washed away. Then the rain is sufficient to keep that hazard at bay until the next long hot dry spell in the following summer.

BTW.....I don't drink half caf anything. My cup will hold a six serving espresso pot of expresso and that is what I have when I have the earning for it. AND IT DOESN'T FUGGEN BOTHER ME IN THE SLIGHTEST YOU UNDERSTAND! NOW GET OFF MY BACK!.

Oh and BTW. The original post was that the tire was on back order. What I was really getting at was that there is an option available if he did not want to wait until the back order was fulfilled. Obviously, the PR3 is doing well, or there would not likely be the back order.
