Once the season here gets rolling, the weeky event in our area is the bike cruise-in at the local Quaker Steak and Lube. It usually a pretty good time - a live band, some bike vendors and average about 500-600 bikes of all makes show up. Strangely, is that most times, I am the only VFR in the crowd. -Yeah, I tend to go after the oddball bikes. Unique is a good thing.

had a awsome custom yellow pearl paint job with black Honda stock looking graphics under the clear coat.

This guy in a cross walk, walking by me @ the light says: "NICE GXSR" !

I laughed so hard I almost fell off the bike.

:yield: 3 months later I stripped & re-painted it pearl silver with the same black Honda graphics.
Now I just get WTF Honda model is that, it's pretty cool !

now my 17 yr old daughter rides it & all the boy's want to be her friend (did I mention I'm a Gun collector)

I think I'm going to put her back on the NT650 Hawk ??? & only let her ride the VFR on our trips to Commiefornia & back.

I had to drive my truck in to work today and this is killing me!!!! Did I say that I sometimes just go in the garage and look at it? Then I start it and get a really big grin on my face! Love the comment about not insulting you VFR! You should have copyrighted that.

My favorite is "man what year is your bike?"... I always ask what year they think it is and it's usually from 00-05... I've got a 1st Gen 700F... Gotta love the timeless dynamics of the VFR.

I think i get the same response as some of u the most common comment is "what is it"
ocassionally i ride with a buddie with a KlR almost every stop some guy comes over and has some story about his klr or experince on one its amazing the places and distances they travel with those things. must be a first bike thing, like remebering your first time. another buddie has a 07 softtail never gets a second look i know that piss him off considering it worth 2 viffers and a klr

i think its great having somthing different that you dont see on every street corner :lever:

From fellow soldiers I usually get "THAT is a '98? No effing way!!! It sounds and looks effing awesome doc!!"

    Women : "How about a ride?....and a date?"

Mothers yank thier children into thier houses and close the doors and shutters as if banditos have just ridden into town to rape and pilage.

Old geezers on parkbenches gawk and scratch thier heads, swearing they heard a mustang coming down the road a minute ago.

Dogs on porches realize immediatly there is no way they will keep up with that fast looking red bike and just go back to sleep.

Harley and custom chopper guys grovel at my feet with notepads asking how they can make thier bikes sound as good as mine...

Squids rev thier engines and say....well, actually, nevermind. Who really gives a F%^& what a squid says!

Women seem to like the my 2k Yellow VFR at first glance. I usually keep the rear seat cowl on my bike because Ithink it looks cool. The first question a lot of women ask me is if there is a seat under the cowl. I am in NYC and work in Manhattan, many tourist come to me and ask if I will take a picture with them on my bike - lots of pretty ladies!!!! When I come up on other bikers someone usually notices the single sided swingarm and are curious about the engine displacement. I know I am biased but the 2k Yellow VFR gets loads of attention wherever I go. When I let another sportsbike rider check out my bike - the immediate reaction is that the bike is so comfortable and how far they would be able to ride pain free. Makes me feel good about my decision to go with a VFR for my first sportsbike.

Last night at the supermarket, the kid bringing in the carts from the parking lot asked me "Is that your bike?" I admitted that yes, indeed, it was. Then he asked me if it was a "stunta" bike. I said I was too old for that sh!t but that I do appreciate those guys providing an endless supply of cheap used parts.

I've heard more "Is that a new model?" and of course they show up right when I'm about to start it up, then it's 'Sweeet" Most haven't a clue, but I'll take the complement.

The neighborhood kids recently were near when I did my lube, check, pre-ride inspection for my 04' Red, and a few of them were like "is it a Ducati?" they've all heard of Ducati, to which I replied

"I looked at Ducati, and bought this Honda instead." then I started it... their eyes went wide "you don't need a Ducati, if you've got that!" One exclaimed. I rode off smiling in full agreement.

My favorite so far was when I rode up and parked with a bunch of other sport bikes, they all wandered over and told me what great shape my bike was in, hadn't seen one in years, then asked, How many miles you got on the old girl?, I said 76, and its almost a day old.

Think alot of people figured Honda quit making them after the rwb paint went away ???

The kids here in Baltimore all shout the same thing: "Doa willy! Doa willy!"

Which I think is Ebonics for "Do a wheelie." The only experience these kids have with motorcycles are the (probably stolen) ratted out dirt bikes that are always tearing around the city. That and squids on GSXRs.

Another teenage kid asked me "how many cc's" it had. (The VFR has no number decals on it.) I told him 2000. His eyes went wide. I said "yeah man, it's got a radial 8cyl engine like an airplane. It'll do 250mph easy." He totally believed me!

My neighbor who rides KTM's and dirt bikes asked me "Is that a Ducati, its sounds sweet running up the street?" I had to infrom him that it was a sweet 95 VFR with a Yosh slip on pipe.

I have to friends that I ride with... We love to rib each other about our respective bikes...

Jay Rides a 2003 Ninja Zx6r 636... For a while he had the newest bike and quite franky I had yet to actually get a bike yet... had always mentioned how I loved and wanted since high school an Intercepter...

Pat (AKA Hoss) went from 94 Ninja 600r to a Triumph Daytona and at this point I had found my previous dream bike a 1985 VF700F RWB classic...

We went riding a few times and a few guys walked past us as we were taking a breather and fueling up our semi dehydrated bodies with Water and snack foods.

These guys went from Oooooh on Jay's 636... to Ahhhh's on Pat's 675... Then they look at my old VF700F and after I start it are amazed at the sound....

Pat and Jay look at each other and just shake their heads... Jay then says: "you know I just hate it that I spent over 600 bucks on an exhaust system to get it sounding as good as it does and his 20 year old stock system sounds Better...."

SInce I just purchased an Gen6 machine Pat and Jay have been constanly ribbing me about my VFR comfy couch tha does everything but butter my toast...

I havesince started calling Jay's bike the Ninja Turtle and Pat's bike is hence forth known as the Teabagger....

I had a guy the other day ask if my 03 was the new R1. All I said as "it's a Honda." Some people have no idea.
