This past summer I dropped mine when I misplaced my foot while stopping on the high side of a curve. I dropped it and it slid from the top side of the curve to the bottom side. Broke the left mirror and scratched it up good. Then, while I was resting from the effort of picking it up and letting the adrenaline wear off it fell over to the right. Scratched that side up and broke that mirror. I was pretty damn pissed. Still hurts to see those spots on the fairing.

Surely you did not ride after that for a while. You should come to Chilliwack. I will adopt you after I buy some life insurance on you.

I made this my next goal, to lower the bike-no way the bike isn't going to fall, if you can't put your feet flat on the ground- the bike is very top heavy

In a way, the VFR lying down worked out. Gives me a better look at the sweet 900SS in the back ground!

Kevin509, at least you got the first drop out of the way. I sometimes think about just pre-emptively laying each of my bikes down in a controlled manner... Anyway, looks like you got off pretty easy. Any of that look like it can be buffed out?

I was about 200 miles into a 550 mile day. At the time I was in some sweet twisties in the middle of nowhere in West Virginia riding on the way to DC for a conference. No choice but to keep going.

Happily, no. I am much more philosophical about it now but I was so pissed at the time that I might have smashed the camera, too.

I dropped mine a couple weeks ago avoiding a collision with a truck. I'm fine, the bike is a littles scarred. I feel your pain brother. It did make me feel a lot better after reading threads like this with guys who have been riding for much longer than I have dropping their viffers. It's a top heavy bike, I'm sure it won't be the last time. Glad your ok.

Update part three! stopped into a detail shop down the road from my work and had them buff the damaged spots for $20 so now all that's left are the very worst scratches, of which there aren't many. I already ordered some colorrite touchup for them. Then I just need to find a suitable decal to put on the fairing right behind the turn signal and it should be pretty much invisible. are VFRworld decals still available?
