jeeze, did he stay on the throttle while he was crashing or what? by the sound of the engine, it seemed liked he had it pinned all the way while he was sliding across the asphalt. whew! he's lucky to walk away from that. It looked pretty nasty.

    Funny Thread!

I wish we could mail this too all the squids and squidettes in motorcycle land.

Another telltale sign of a squid? When you pull into the bike shop or gas station and a squid starts to admire your VFR and his moron squid buddies say: "Yeah the VFR's look good, but they are slow".

Or another personl favorite: "Hey...arn't you hot wearing that gear?"

LOL, Damn I love this thread.

A sport bike buddy of mine and myself had pick up some egotictic squids on a ride. After explaining the route (Skaggs Springs road via Hwy 1), one of them asked where we stopping for lunch and my buddy replied "just down the road for some calamari." I laugh so hard and laugh more because those 3 idoits didn't understand why I was laughing.

I think the term's "squid" need to be added to VFR Wiki. Any chance of getting a picture to some it all?

I get a few of them in my MSF classes and sometimes I wish I had a video camera to share with you of some of these guys attiudes that they display. It is priceless.....

I see stunt riders doing this kind of stuff all the time. After looking at that picture, I see the other riders in the group riding with helmets. A mechanical failure is nothing to deem a "squid like" behavior, but riding without a helmet or protective gear while performing hisk risk stunts (stoppie) should constitute as a squid.

Squidliness is next to stupidness. I had to respond.
Especially to SFPA and KC-10 FE.
I live near Raleigh/Cary, NC and I'm baby sittin' one of my bro's bikes (Zuke 750) who is in the sandbox right now and decided to roll up to Raleighwood to stretch its legs. I go to the local stab-n-jab to get a cup-a-joe and you guessed it...
...as I was parking my bike some "file king FNG to motorcycling maybe 22" on a new 'Busa rolls into the parking lot "shaky". He hits the throttle to make the impressive ROAR! However, he forgets to disengage the clutch. About 100' later in the 60' parking lot there's a new 'Busa with lots of damage and an Acura with a 'Busa imprint on the trunk.
So to my military bro's and all you real riders on the road I give you this acronym:

S.Q.U.I.D. (Super Quick Unwise Injured D*mb*ss)

Best I could come up with. Maybe someone else can come up with a better one and start an acronym thread.

Search for this band/song on google:

The Meatmen - War of the Superbikes

That pretty much says it all.

As a 24 year old I sometimes have to battle the inner squid. I see some chicks and have to concentrate on NOT winding her up, or I am pissed by slow traffic and have to concentrate on NOT blowing by these cages. And I have to admit, knowing how to do a wheelie would be really cool.
    BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT
I am a newer rider (<2 Years), so I take it easier, only go fast when there's an open stretch of known road, and have refrained from wheelies cause 11K is a lot of green to lay down to ruin a bike trying to squid it up.

What I am jealous about is their squid gangs, I need a posse like that, maybe without the idiots, but I gotta track down some riding buddies. Where are my RI VFR Brothers???

God give me the strength and common sense to combat my lunacy....

 you all have good modern explanations of a Squid, but here is the real explanation. -

The term Squid or Squids came from Navy sailors on shore leave & would rent scooters & run around causing havic in different ports including & where they where 1st called that in San Dieigo, CA.

(no use of there Brain, arms & legs out of the water or land locked).

they were often Hospitalized from there drunken antics & crashes on the scooters.(aka as loss of control of there brains, & limbs)

Now you now where the term came from, & it's not far off from the modern SQUIDS that do stupid stuff with no gear on riding now.
