    Hi All,
Looking for assistance. When headlights are on low beam, are there one or two bulbs on?

There should be both headlights on for both the high and low beam setting. If not you probably have a burnt out bulb. To save yourself the hassle, it is a good idea to change both headlights at the same time. If you have really small hands the bulbs can be changed without removing the upper cowl on the bike, but it is a lot easier to do with the upper cowl removed.

The spring retainer clip that holds the headlight bulb in place can be a pain to re-attach if you have never done it before. Though removing the upper cowl will take more time, it will save you a lot of frustration.

Also, you may be having Regulator/Rectifier issues if you've not replaced yours. Blowing headlights is a common result.

x2 on removing the cowl. Do yourself a favor & take it off!! You can get replacement H4 bulbs at WalMart for less than $20/pair, break off the BOTTOM two tabs, & use in place of the expensive Honda bulbs.

What? I've had mine for over a year now and always thought that it was the left side only while on low beam and both when on high beam! I even changed the bulbs a bit ago and it's doing the exact same thing. I wonder if I have a wiring issue. My ZX6R did this same thing (which is how I think it was supposed to be) so I thought this was totally normal for the VFR. Damn.

Well I'm really glad I read this post. I changed the right headlight bulb, again, and now have two fully functional headlights for the first time since owning the bike! Looks different with both on low beam. How sad is that?!?
