Sounds like a great time to pick up a set of the cheap shorty levers off Ebay. I tried a set and I think they are great, and look good too.

Sorry to hear some of you have drop the belove VFR  Many of us have done the same so don't feel too bad. Fix her up and get her back on the road. As for the lever many of them are from China and seem to be nice workmanship as the cost of 1/4 compare to other brand like ASV or Pazzo.

I have those exact levers but in red (black levers with red dials - whatever).
    Love 'em.
If I remember correctly they took a couple of weeks to get from Amazon. That was the only problem. Fit, finish, installation etc is good to go.

I have my old take off levers if you need something Right Now. Just let me know.

Edit - cancel that offer. You have a 6th gen. Don't think the levers are the same as 5th.

I think I'm gonna give them a shot. In the meantime, I'm going to cut the bent portion of the lever off and grind the cut smooth. Roll with a custom shorty lever for a while.

I dropped my VFR last December, walking speed tip-over, and replaced the clutch lever with OEM Honda for $55. :hss: Honda likes their parts way too much, I won't do that again.

A few months later I picked up a good deal on a Superhawk, and one lever was bent, so I ordered the chinese cheapies, and I was very happy with fit and finish.
I've seen them on a few other bikes that looked pretty scratched up, but for that price, they're easy to rattle-can or replace.

oK, OK you guys tallked me into it. Gonna go ahead and order these bad boys... Any suggestions on the best way to bend the rear brake lever out, it's pushed in about a half inch, but still functional.

I have the shorties. Good levers. However, only buy from a seller who shows the correct levers. For example, there are sellers showing pic's of "5th gen levers" that have a cable clutch lever instead of a hydraulic clutch lever.

One negative against these levers is that they're thicker than OEM, so there's less of a gap to the bar when you apply the brakes.

Haven't ordered yet. It says in the description that it's for 02+...
All i want is full length (shorties will work, prefer full length,) foldable, good quality, not super expensive.

    Phew!

Sending cable type levers is a very common error, so you need to be on the look-out for it. I was even sent an after market cable clutch lever by a Honda dealer once - they just sent what was in the supplier's part number book. Here's what a standard clutch lever looks like:

    http://m.ebay.com.au/itm/130900723227?nav=SEARCH&sbk=1

Notice the weird shape at the pivot end. The clutch lever in the set in your link doesn't have this, but it has slots for cable insertion.

    Edit:
Here's a set of folding long levers with the correct clutch lever:

    http://m.ebay.com.au/itm/121081767906?nav=SEARCH&sbk=1

    Happy hunting!

Edit again: the set in the link above is for the 5th gen. I think there might be some differences in the brake lever from 5th to 6th gen, but I'm not sure...

I've just checked the OEM part numbers. The clutch levers for '01 and '02 are the same, but the brake levers are different. I don't know how different they are. You would need to look at both to see the differences.

On the other hand, you could check to make sure the seller you've found has the ones with the correct clutch lever.

To answer your question, yes, the second link shows what you need for the clutch.

So I cut the lever off at the bend and grinded it smooth, now it's just like a shorty. Went for a ride, works perfect. I'm still going to find levers, but now I have more time to look. If any of you guys have any other good suggestions, post them up. Thanks fellas!

Also my rear brake lever is still bent in, I pried it out as much as I can, but still needs to come out another inch or so. Any suggestions on how I fix that or do I buy a new rear brake lever as well?

Vise + torch + cheater pipe. SLOWLY bend it back into shape. Paint as necessary.

This will at least bend it back to usable until you can source a pedal that doesn't require a payment plan.
