I looked at some dyno records and it looks like at about 10K RPM your running around 100Hp. With some exhaust mods, guttin the cat, and a power commander you should hit 110Hp id say.

ummm interesting. I checked online and found my 2k VFR stock specs and the HP was listed @ 110hp. I was on the road over the weekend and got smoked by some 600cc bikes - one person was even riding double and I still got rocked. I was doing a little over 70 and when they passed I cracked the throttle but they were gone by then. I seem to be able to keep up or stay in range of the faster 600cc bikes, but I am definately not as fast - it might be me also because I am not aggressive on the street or highway.

why not ? we're only talking a blast on the highway.... a 5 sencond drag race.

I didnt seem to have any problem reeling in the 600's on the straights at my last track day.

    ^^word!^^

And on the real every-day ride, you could laugh at said 600 pilot as he shifts his bike 3X as much as you to stay in his peaky narrow power band.

I'm not trying to be "Richard Head" here, but I really don't understand the power inferiority complex some people have about the VFR. If you want 140 HP and don't mind keeping your tach betwen 10K and 14K RPM, then you bought the wrong ride.

I'd prefer it if the VFR put out a few more ponies, but seriously, for what I will use it for (once I get it this weekend), it's just fine. If I want to go really fast I'll ride my R1 or 'Busa.

Dynotuners who have experience say that the 6th G makes about 100 HP, plus or minus a few. Sorry . . .

Over at the thread: http://vfrworld.com/forums/general-vfr-discussions/18481-vfr-top-speed-26.html around post #780, I break out the performance breakdown between a VFR800 and an '09 GSXR600, just as a point of reference.

Basically, your bike (assuming it's stock) has about 100HP, and the modern 600 has about 10 or more ponies on you, and is over 100 lbs. lighter. Now, weight doesn't play so much a role in top speed (per that post), but it plays a HUGE role in acceleration.

My Daytona has 25+ ponies (pipe and map) on a VFR800, and is 110 pounds lighter; all else being equal, you ain't hanging, not even on a good day. AND, with my triple, I don't have to "keep it in a narrow band" to keep my bike's speed up.

Now, all else ain't gonna be equal, cause I'm like 290, way outta shape and past my prime, I don't scream my bike for no reason, and wouldn't push her anywhere near her limits; so, a good rider, who knows his VFR well and rides hard, could easily outpace me. But in a straight roll-on, other than my fat ass, you'd be hard pressed just to keep me in sight.

-1 / +2 gearing on a VFR800 will pretty much kill any stock 600 up to 100mph in a straight line. After switching several times with a equally skilled R6 rider we both agreed that the VFR was superior in low speed twisties (20-45mph posted, 35-70mph actual). However, on moderate to high speed sweepers and straights the VFR is just a big slug compared to the R6.

Except those squids have already re-geared those 600's too...

Really?? Wow, I would say the opposite... I really feel the weight disadvantage on my VFR in those low speed twisties.
But given some more open road, not having to flick the pig over side-to-side allows much easier riding in the sweepers and erases much difference I say.

just had mine dyno tuned - it is bone stock (except for the PCIII) and 100 HP at the wheel was the result

there was no HP gain as a result just better throttle control and a transparent VTEC transition

Wanted to jump-on for numbers, if you guys don't mind? Mine is a 1997 (sold in 1998 and fuel injected; so a 1998?) I had an '87 and now this '98 and I LOVE Viffers. Just a great multipurpose. I've had other bikes but, for the money and not know what you'll be doing all day, there is none better! Anyway... I'm a bit heavy and this '98 just feels a little underpowered on the highway (heats up a bit and not really crisp). My thinking is that I may like to upgrade to a 2007 (love the RWB paint job and there's an okay deal in Dallas now.) Just wondering if the '98 and '07 are basically the same bike or if I'd get the ten horse I need/want?

Kinda long thread but, I've wanted to say hello for some time. Shorter message: Does anyone know the HP #'s on the 1998 800 and 2007 800? Thanks... JellyBean
