VT, sorry to hear about your getoff. Glad to hear you are o.k and bike not too bad.
ATGATT surely helped and proved its worth(unfortunately).

When we ride, it's always a chance. And as stated previously, I feel there are two types
of riders. Those that did and those that will.

When I was first signed up for my MFS class years ago my instructor and friend would take me
out to the road up to the mountains. It was ATGATT. He told me that whenever you ride you
should believe and accept the fact that...you may never come back. This is not to say you are
doomed, or that you take unnecessary risks but that it is a possibility. "Ride Well" was a phrase
I picked up from a writer on a motorcycle magazine, and use it often when ending my posts.

Whenever I decide to go out on the bike I always spend a few minutes doing a mental check(along with bike check).
For me, accepting this belief prepares me for the ride. By accepting this I can concentrate on the ride
and focus more on "Riding Well:. Still it seems that Murphy is always around, just got to ride fast
enough so he can't catch you :) J/K.

Accidents, do happen and some can be prevented. How to prevent any accidents while riding a bike?
I guess my answer to that would be... don't ride.

I have been fortunate so far(knocking wood now), I have not gone down (yet) but got many close calls.
To be honest, if I was a few inches shorter in the legs(I'm 5'10) I would have gone down a few of those times.

Anyway, sorry guys(and gals) for the mini novel.

    Ride Well...All.

I have a habit of stopping to investigate the road surface anytime i experience an unexpected wheel slip if conditions permit. I always want to know what i did wrong or what caused it.

VT - that sucks, I know all about being caught off guard mid-corner - although my VFR went off a 30 foot embankment on it's left side.

Don't let sonofwolf get you down - he's just trolling. Anyone who immediately goes after the rider as the reason why someone goes down is not worth acknowledging.

I'm sorry that I appear not to care about someone falling down, but sometimes accidents cannot happen if your a bit more careful that patch of oil was in a bad place and the front wheel washing out gives zero time to try and ride out of it. I see oil on the road all the time as well as gravel and other junk. Yopu have to make the motorcycle dance to avoid this stuff-his gear did it job well-too bad he had to test it:whiteflag::whiteflag:

No but I arrived after the fact so to speak. Another minute or so, it would have been a whole new story like the time I was behind a herd of giraffe.

Seems like ya got without long stories aboot the weather and Aunt Tilly's granola recipe three major factors that cause one (or more) of those rubber not meeting the road and the shiny side down.

    1. The bike is not in tip top shape
    2. The rider is not in tip top shape
    3. The roadway is not in tip top shape

    4. Outside agency - owl, duck, texter, remote control airplane, real airplane, meteor, falling branch and in some parts of Africa, yes a giraffe. I believe those are all possibilities.

How do you guys fall off you bike? Oh wait never mind....Mine was a nice sand pile :) MP3 on the arm makes a nice forearm slider too. And found its hard to ride without a left foot peg.

I bet you were listening to hard rock-that makes you go faster-a form of distractive riding-its good to smoke too will riding-don't for get your cup holder too-turn your damper up when going through sand-poping a wheelie is good for a few laughs too- but what am I talking about-I feel over a couple times a year-broke a peg too, over the winter-I am putting sliders everywhere front,frame-I don't know what to do about this single sided back end-can I put just one there? I rode all winter once-won't do it again:crazy::painkiller:

Finally had the chance to give a full once over of the bike. I am pleased that the only damage is cosmetic. There's a minor leak somewhere in the exhaust but that's unrelated and I'm taking the stock off over winter anyways. My plan was to give the plasti-dip a go this winter before actually repainting the bike, so the damage is just motivation to go through with that. And since we're on music, the song that happened to be playing as I attempted to create modern art via human crayon :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yP4qdefD2To

So very glad that your gear took the damage and not you, and that you are okay. Not all of those stories have a happy ending.
