The bastards. Hope you find them before the police do. I don't know what your court system is like, but here, they tend to try the victim rather than the accused. And if they are found guilty, they are given house arrest where they serve their sentence in the comforts of their homes if they are not out in the bars.

Wish you luck in getting it back soon. Hope it was insured. My brother had a brand new Norton Commando 850 stolen back in the 70's when the 850s first came out. Never was found. He did not have it covered for theft or fire. I made sure I did not follow that path with mine.

Bummer, bike thieves should be shot.

Interesting, mine is also a 50th Anni but it has Silver wheels and doesn't have HECS 3 ?

Wheels are from a FiX and rear fairing from a later bike. The kind of details that made it stand out upon closer scrutiny...

+1 on them being bastards. Will keep ear to ground.

The 'police' over here usually say case closed cos it's easier than looking for the culprits.

Hope you got the insurance on her and it all goes through ok. Nothing worse than a stolen bike, but the blow is dampened by a nice check from the other crimianls, sorry, insurance company.

Thanks to the power of the internet, a passerby spotted the bike and after checking the registration number, they contacted the police and I recovered the bike almost 2 weeks to the day that it was taken. The ignition barrel, steering lock and seat hump have been damaged, not sure if anything else has been damaged but it all looks OK.

Great news. Was it parked where that picture was taken? If so, I would have called a few of my buds, hung around in the dark, and in a very meaningful way, all polite and politically correct, educate the fuggen basterd who came to drive the bike away. You could have invited the coppers to come around when they got off shift. I think most would jump at that chance.

Anyways, glad you got it back in reasonable shape.

Picture taken where the bike was found about a mile from where it was stolen and very close to a local police station. The police could have arrrested the thief as they were called when he was trying to take the bike. They arrived on the scene and the bike was still there and he had hid. When they left without getting out of their car, the thief continued what he started. Does not appear as professional as was first thought because the bike did not look like it was ridden (fuel tank was still full) and he tried to get under the seat by ripping off the rear cowling which could have been removed using a coin on each 'frankenbolt'...

I am embarrassed by that right there. That is not professionalism either. I don't like to knock the police. I was a LEO for 25 years, but shoddy police work and lazy officers just piss me off.

Excellent news a 50th lives to ride another day, not sure how many 50th Anni's there are in the UK but they're rare here I've only seen 2 others on the road the last one was about 3 years ago.

Congrats! Amazing to get her back :D

Did someone see a post online from you saying it stolen then found it there? Or was it some kind of stolen bike ad site?
Whatever it was it's worked wonders!

Now treat her so some nice new pretty things for finding her way home again.

That's awesome!! He definitely wasn't a professional, "hmmm lets steal a rare looking bike that sticks everywhere I go and hide it a mile from where I stole it." Not exactly the next D.B. Cooper.

Yes I posted online in several places including FaceBook and got people to share the post. A child who goes to my son's school recognised the bike as he had seen me out and about on it. He told his mother and she looked at the picture on FaceBook, checked the registration number and called the Police. She was even good enough to stay with the bike until I got there just in case someone was still riding it.

Its a mystery to me how it ended up where it was and it does not look it was even ridden. Ironically it was left close by a Police Station, the same one that sent the Officers round to 'investigate'.
