Hi, I have been visiting here for the better part of seven years but never joined..... today I have. My wife and I bought our (red) 2005 VFR new in 05. We put 20,000 miles on it in about 6 years, lots of mountain trips to the Blue ridge Parkway, Deals Gap and the West Virginia mountains. Over the last three years the bike has sat in my shop.... mostly ignored. I have kept insurance and a tag on it and last summer did an oil change/tune-up but really didn't ride it. A month ago my son bought me the documentary " Long Way Down" It's about two guys who take a trip of several months on motorcycles. They travel from the North of Scotland, down through Europe, into Africa, finally winding up in Cape Town, South Africa. One of the riders is the actor Ewan McGregor, who is a big motorcycling enthusiast. As I watched it over a few days I could feel that familiar old urge to ride well up and take hold. I don't know where it's been these last few years but I had it back. I bought a new battery, pulled the bike out and washed the dust and spider-webs off. My wife and I have been riding constantly for the last three weeks, lots of decent country roads, running errands and back and forth to work. It feels great to be back in the saddle again! I've started looking at seats, riser bars and a mount for my GPS, and planning a fall trip to the mountains before winter hits..... I'm back baby! I'll post some picks, bike is stock except for Scorpion exhaust. I bought soft 'sport-bike' luggage, made mounts for the saddlebags and trunk and mounted them... kind of unique and they work well...... Thx for reading.....
Congrats on the new bike and Welcome to the WORLD. Glad to hear that you are enjoying the bike, though I have to admit, I and many others would be a tad surprised if you were not enjoying the VFR. Have fun and don't forget to keep her shiny side up.
Welcome and welcome back to your own VFR. Sometimes we get busy with life and forget the important things. Looking forward to seeing some of your trip pictures.
Hi John - welcome to the MadHouse:welcome: Its great to hear you have re-discovered biking again. We look forward to seeing pictures of the VFR. :vtr2: If you browse the threads regularly, you will see there are quite a few characters your side of the pond, and once in the while it seems they organise some sort of suitably chaotic meet, which could provide you both with an excuse to join in your own "Scubalong Way Down" trip... Check this out  http://vfrworld.com/forums/general-vfr-discussions/43403-i-feel-so-cheap-ride-tahoe-2013-a.html Take care SkiMad
