Well it is here at last, here at last, here at last, A huge thank you goes out to smack doogle for deciding to part out his bike rather than to spend copious amount of time, energy and money to fix his up. I jumped at the chance to pick up his 8 spoke rear wheel which he sent with a Continental Contimotion tire mounted. Smack claimed that there was only about 60% tread left on it. But I did not care about that really. I was after the wheel. I have practically new Michelin PR2's on the back now. But I swear, there is about 95% tread left on that tire and no cuts, cracks or bulges. And tire was manufactured in 2011. What a deal he offered me and I thank him for that.

So I mounted the wheel with the tire today. Man, that sure looks bich'n better than the drab grey 5 spoke that was on there before. Now, all I need to do is get that front wheel powdered. This will be a winter project. Zoom - zoom has a place lined up for me in Kelowna that appears to be cheaper than what I would be paying here. Though the wheel I got from smack is in great shape, there are some marks from tire install I suspect so I will get them both done at the same time I guess. Does the rear need it. Well no I guess. But if I don't have a perfectly powdered rim, I would not have something to scratch up and swear at later.

I don't think this looks as good as Toe's RWB with the white wheels, and a couple others here as well. But I do think it is a good candidate for second place. You know. Kinda like the Team USA Olympic Hockey team for the past few winter Olympics. IMGP1592.jpg

Thanks TC. I had a beach of a time getting those wheel nuts on and off with the needle nose. There has to be a better tool than that!

Right now it is pissing down rain. We had a rain warning issued by Environment Canada last night. A bit of localized flooding about. Yesterday a biker got hit by lightning on the I-5 near Seattle. But that's fuck all. I had that a few years ago too and didn't do me any harm.

Starting tomorrow, and for the next week, the weather is supposed to be quite nice. Perfect for riding. Daytime highs around 23 24 C. The two week forcast I haven't seen. But around here, September can supply some great riding weather.

PM me with when you are coming if you are. The wife and I are heading down to Washington State somewhere in the fifth wheel probably the 12th to the 17th or there abouts. I would really like to have you stay here. Lots of room in the garage for your bike.

I am heading out at 06:30 to meet up with Chomper, Kingsley and jasonsmith for a three day ride down to Mt St. Helens then back up the coast returning here Monday evening.

PM your way with contact info.

Don't know about the guy on the I-5 in Seattle. I heard that through another forum. For me? It was back in either July or August 06 at the KOA campsite in Winthrop Washington. I am sure there are many campers there who will at least confirm my wife screaming at me to get back into the trailer after I got hit. Well the tree next to me. All I saw was a flash of white flash up my arms, then I was on my back a couple feet from where I was originally. EMTs said I should have bought a lotto ticket. I kept a piece of that tree in my garage for a few years. Just threw it out this past spring.

Seems to me, it was after that, I started riding down to central California for some ribs and a couple beers with a group of deranged bikers.

Well, it only took you how long to get one? Welcome to the club! Maybe you can make a VFR 8 spoke rim patch?

Congrats on the rim, it looks sweeeeet!

I'm in your back yard this week actually. Flying into Richmond tomorrow evening and then on Tuesday morning we'll be flying up to Prince George and then back to Kelowna in a King Air 90 so the scenery should be awesome!

Too bad it's for work and my 8 spoke will be a few thousand KMs away. :frown:

Nice lookin wheel Randy. Definitely looks better in white than silver/gray color. I will check with the company that did the powder coat on my wheels and see how long they would need for turn around to do the wheels in white. With any luck, the owner of the shop will need some dents fixed in one of his trucks and I can get your wheels done for next to nothing. LOL

That's a nice looking wheel! Looking at the link provided by Slovfr, you just bolt the wheel onto your 5th or 6th gen. & ride off without mods ?

Yep, the gen 3 wheel is a direct bolt on replacement. Just install and ride. Getting one,................. Now that is a different matter all together.

I got really luck on mine. The guy didn't know what he had. He was selling the swingarm assembly and never showed the rim. I knew what it was and offered him $200 for just the rim. He literally jumped on it! So I got it for $225 to my door. But I went ahead and made it the silver color that I have always liked. Then I had to do the same to my front. Came out perfect if you ask me!
