I feel so cheap (RIDE TO TAHOE 2013)

Still on Day 1

After lunch we head out to Yosemite the ride was amazing but freaking hot, the temperature sizzling over 109 degree, I thought I am going to pass out on the bike. Arrive at the gate of the park and got inform the Tioga pass west of Yosemite is close so we have to turn around and find another route……….Great

Everyone were exhausted from the heat so the 4 mofos on the VFR are hauling ass and left me behind on my GS :sad: Out of town we pull over at an intersection to take a break under a shaded tree

In the middle of nowhere land

Out of water so I request to stop by a store to fill up, everyone agree and Toe said there are many stores along the way so off we go.
So we push on passing a store and gas station with a big sign COLD BEERS and ICE COLD DRINK……I look at the group and they are no sign of slowing down, passing another store hope not this one. After passing several stores without stopping to quench my thirst I am about to pass out on the GS. As we roll thru town I saw Reg pointing at the gas tank to alert Jason he is low on gas ok that is a good sign maybe we can stop soon………..Without warning Reg pull over to the next gas station that on the left, I look at the group to see if anyone pull over. Guess what? They just push on ward……WTH about few miles down the road Jason ask where is Reg I told him Reg is filling his gas so Jason and Brian decided to turn around to look for Reg. I look ahead to see if Toe pulling over but seem like he is not slowing down……….Damn bases on my Military training you not supposed to break off from the formation without order and you not supposed to leave your men behind either so now what…..Think….Think Damn Toe.
Follow my training I keep push on with Toe seen Reg is in good hands with Jason and Brian. After trailing Toe for another 30 miles or so he finally pull into a gas station and a small store. I offer to get him some water and he said he is fine………Toe must be a camel ound: went inside got me some cold water and waited for the rest of the group for about 15 minutes still no site of them so Toe and I push on the next junction (49 and 88). We pull in fill up our gas and try to make contact with Jason and Reg to see if they response, after several try and 30 munites later I give up and text them the address of Shannon house and we push on from there. The ride on 88 were nice and scenic, the temperature cool down a bit which is a plus. Found a view point along the way I decided to pull over taking some pictures. Yes I know they are bitching about it but I don’t care and only Toe is with me so I don’t feel too bad :rofl:



As we pull over take some pictures and having a smoke I heard the whining sound of the gear driven cam I turn around and saw Reg blast by like a missile I ran after and flag him down but no success. Few seconds later I saw Jason and Brian approaching from the turn so I went and flag them down. The two pull over and we exchange conversation blahh….blahhh As the temperature drop they all seem to be fine after break and refill, done with quick stop we head out to look for Reg. As we roll out here come Reg blast by from the opposite direction ound: I am sure he is piss :rofl: from running around like a MAD dog ound:

Day 1 arrived at Shannon’s house

After three hours ride and many more running around for Reg to fill up his thirsty horse We finally arrive at Shannon’s house around 8 pm and greeted by our wonderful host, we strip out of our gears and heading straight to the COLD beers. Shannon is not skimming on the beers for sure his refrigerator in the garage is fill with variety of beers and better yet he got a Kegerator of IPA wooooooooooooooo hoooooooooooooo my kind of beer after a long day riding. Thanks Shannon for the cold drinks. We went to the back and greeted by his wife Piper, daughter Holly, Sam his son. and several of his four legs friends and one of his dog name is TASTY :rofl: I thought we going to have a feast and party all night

After finish my two beers and two shot of Fire ball……I excuse myself and hit the shack, the weather is nice and the sky is beautiful filled with millions of stars so I decided to sleep outside.
Piper got me a lounch chair perfect Half way thru the night all the animal come out and start howling and mowning…..Hummm I hope there is no bear here. Second thought I should take Shannon offer to sleep inside. Oh well I don’t think Bear will like Asian taste anyway. As I start to fall back to sleep I can hear some strange noise Shcick…….Schick…..Schick…..After few second I realize that was the sprinkler system go off. I just lay there and wait to see if they are going to my direction, sure enough I can feel the mist coming my way so I move up to stay dry as I moved up the chair collapsed and throw me off to the ground. There is other thing happen while I am sleep in the chair but I let other explain

Next morning we all get up quite early and get ready to hit the road. Piper and Shannon insist to cook breakfast for us so we decided to stay so we not hurting their feeling

Great write up Long. Nice to have you mofos at the house as guest. Sorry I couldn't ride out with you in the morning. Piper will be very pleased you post pic of her making breakfast in her pjs on the internet. Sam is now very popular at middle school because of his pic with Jackie Chan, but all his friends say, "no that is Mr. Chow." You are all welcome up again. stay out of the sprinkler next time.

Definitely great ride reports.

But the common theme seems to be all you Californians crying about the 90+* temps. Waaaa. Waaa. Waaa. :biggrin: Try doing a couple hundred miles during a day when the temps are at or below freezing and snow is blowing around. You'll take your heat any day of the week after that.

I love the dogs in this picture. (. . .and I don't mean the gaggle of scruffy riding looking for coffee.) All those people in the kitchen and the dogs have not lost their focus. As my wife said "you know who feeds the dogs in that house."

 

I can certainly agree with the riding in the snow comment. Have to admit though that it would be nice to be able to ride year round without having to worry about snow. Of course I know Randy will comment about the fact that some of us Canadians can ride year round but alas, this is not necessarily true for all of us. I might be able to ridde the bike year round, but I would not be able to leave Kelowna unless I carried snow chains. Ah well, such is life.

The trip sounds like you guys had a fantastic time, with the exception of the overly neurotic, 4 wheeled buffoon, who was jealous about your abilities to get through traffic with the ease of snakes. Maybe he was a tourist and all he wanted was directions. LOL. Here in Kelowna where I live we have a saying, "If it's tourist season, why the hell can't we shoot them!!!".

Though I have never met any of you guys, I think I would feel right at home going for a ride and would fit right in. That is the one thing I like most about this site. My wife often mentions that you have to be a little, well, SPECIAL to own (or ride) a VFR and I agree. It seems that it matters not what walk of life you may come from, if you ride a bike, you fit right in, and if you happen to ride a VFR, well, you also get preferred parking. LOL

i would hope some day to be able to ride down south for a holiday with my wife and with any luck maybe I can meet up with a couple of you. First things first though, I need to be able to drink more beer. He'll, two beers and I'm three sheets to the wind. . LOL. Perhaps I could keep up and drink some of that near beer stuff. Hmmmm, naaaa, that stuff is awful.

Only thing I don't like about riding motorcycles is that the helmet prevents me from licking the windscreen when riding. Now the visor is a different story....
