Hi. Saw some waved rotors on ebay, and it got me wondering if anyone has used them on their 5th Gen? Are there any down sides to using them?

    Thanks

Toss out some manufacturers so we can all go to websites and drool. How much do these things cost? I have waved rotors on the mountainbike and man do they look cool. On the mountainbike we use em cause they clear dirt out of the calipers every time a wave goes through the gap. But that doesnt help US much..... i hope.....

I have wave rotors on my '96, and really like them. I can't tell you how much they improved over the stock rotors as I completely swapped out my front end with a CBR 954 unit. I also installed stainless steel lines. I have wave rotors front and rear. They were lighter than the stock units. I do know that if I really wanted to do stoppies that I feel I could do those without any problems (not that I would ever attempt such a thing, not enough balls, or too much brains). I am quite pleased with them!!! It was definately worth it in my book!!!

    Are you a member on www.ozvfr.net ?

One of the admins there (AB) had wave rotors on his 5th gen, he sold them when he put a set of VTR SP2 front forks in. As far as I can remember he was very happy with them.

The Galfers were a noticeable improvement over the stock brakes. Along with the wave rotors f&r, I put a set of their street pads. Haven't had the time to install the stainless line kit yet though. I'm sure I'll feel a little more with the brakes after.

No disadvantages at all with these.

for all concerned: when you install them insure you have them "offset" from each other. what I mean is when you look at them from the side they should not be "mirrored". I have some on my RVF400 and I like them alot.

Just out of curiousity, why? I didn't off set mine when I installed them, the instructions didn't say anything about offset or mirroring them. Now you have me slightly concerned...Is there a balance issue? Grasping for help here!!!

I was having wear issues with mine and they felt like they were warped. I told a Galfer representative at Laguna Seca about my problem and he asked if my rotors were mirrored. I was clueless but he said that they should not be and proceeded to explain it to me. basically it rids the bike of a pulsing feel in the lever and increases longevity of the rotor. It did turn out that my problems lie with my calipers sticking, though, but even then I felt like I had better response/feel/less pulsing when I offset them. oh and no balance issues, douglas. Galfer Rep said they found out about it from racers complaining about pulsing

for those of you who are wondering what I'm talking about, look at the picture above. you will see a "V" shape wave and a "U" shape wave. when you look at the rotor from the side and there are two "V" or "U" shape waves lined up this means your rotors are mirrored. If there is a "V" and a "U" shape lined up your rotors are offset. it easy to offset your rotors if they are currently mirrored, just remove the rotor mounting bolts from one side and rotate that rotor until you "V's" and "U's" don't match, then reattach your bolts. best part is, you don't even need a stand or remove the wheel:)

Cool, thanks alot for the info. I'll fix my rotors soon. The weather here hasn't been condusive to riding lately, so I'm sure I'll have time to fix them before I ride again. I hadn't noticed any pulsing with mine after I put them on, but I really wasn't looking for any either.
