There are times when fast is needed (like on 101 on the washington penninsula behind 8 cars and a camper) and i have the guts and the mischeviousness in me to open up, but after i'm past i like to slow down (good thing too as a mile later i discovered 3 reservation troopers speed checking). mostly i stay within 10 miles, which means about 5 over with my spedometer flaw, and the cops have never once bothered me.

as for the pussy foot name calling..... CHICKEN wings ....

That's correct, I opened her up, caught the cbr, and got back to highway speeds. And tunnel vision is true. I felt like the safest driver out there. It was an awesome feeling.

I'll be headed to Germany in a few weeks where I can rent a BMW and ride as fast as I can.....no permission needed.

P.S. They have the safest highways I've ever even heard of.....straigt-ish, flat-ish and most people stay the HELL out of the left lane!!

Can't wait to be totally irresponsible.

One.....two......three.........four.............five...............that was nice, time to get back to reality.
Time and place has to be right, but isn't it one of the enjoyable occasions we allow ourselves to have every blue moon.
I believe there's a thick line between a squid and an educated thrill.
Cruz, I've never seen 6th on one of these bursts, let me know what numbers show up when you get back.
Have a fun but safe trip.

I am 53 and have had my VFR up to 150 on a rural two-lane road.

Here's my story: I travel 18 miles to the D.O.T. to get my Bike license (had one for years, long story) anyways I pass the written test and we are going to do the riding portion of the test...he says you brought your helmet didn't you?? I says no, you never told me to. So we argue back and forth, basically I have to go home and back, 36 miles round trip to get my helmet and at that time I went to work at 2:30 pm I was so freaking pissed when I got outta town I started passing cars and said fuk it and topped out at 150 before I let off...alls I can say it what a freaking rush and I will NEVER go that fast again w/o a helmet as about the time I looked up at the speedo (I was tucked in) my freaking glasses flew off at 150. By the grace of God my glasses somehow hooked on my arm so here I am decelerating from 150 no eye protection. One hard on the bars luckily I know countersterring as I was veering toward the ditch. Got slowed down enough that I thought I could take both hands off the bars w/o a tankslapper and got my glasses on....Kids do not try this at home. That was one of the stupidest things I have done on a bike! BTW I passed the riding test with flying colors! hehe That too is the fastest I have ever been on a land vehicle.

Cool story. I'm 33, so I'm no kid. And I've been riding for exactly 23 years. I have experience. And what exactly is a squid? I've heard it a thousand times, just don't know the meaning.

You and I seem to agree on some things. Don't think you will find too many people here who will support your riding without a helmet. But at 53 years of age, I am not about to lecture you on it.

Obviously I knew better, but My Bipolar kicked in as I was soooo pissed. Lesson Learned for sure, my guardian angel had to kick it in to high gear, but at least he was with me.

I have been really lucky in my long riding career, my first street bike was a Yamaha RD60 top speed 57 with a tail wind Ahh those were simpler times folks!

When you get old as me (58), you will start seeing things in a different light. I was 51 before I ever rode a motorcycle, ever. But I have kinda made up for some lost time since my awakening.

I have never been 150. I may have been over 100 a time or two but it's hard to tell. Most bike speedometers are kind of optimistic. Even 100 is stupid when there are unavoidable obstetrical like 2x4s in the road, a cow or a dear. I have ridden bikes to the lock. My BMW R60/5 ran an honest 82 mph WFO. I know this because of the receipt the state trooper gave me.

All but just a conservative few gas it once in awhile somewhere. Lets take the OP's OP apart and read it slowly.

Coming home from work this morning ...Swing? Graveyard? Dark out? AM drive morning traffic?

Decides to not get off at regular exit then saw the other dude on the CBR? Which came first, the chicken or the roadkill?

IMO we got a sitrep of grabass in the morning.

Confession is good for the sole even if the event is fishy. Who is Chicky and what did she did?

In the latest news in New Jersey, the courts are holding that if anyone texting another person who is operating a vehicle and there is an accident and that person #1 knows the other person is operating a vehicle, both are culpable.

A bunch of sciency stuff on squid or as the Italians call the critters, "Calamari". Some US markets and fancy beanerys call them calamari too so they can sell the same beastie for more pesos. Then ya got those bigass maneaters the Humbolt squid that come in at 50lbs+. Then ya got the lore types called the Kraken that ate lots of Vikings and other dudes trying to discover America.

The one you have heard a thousand times and can I point out that maybe some of them were insults that got by you is "Street Squid". That, you can find on a web dictionary of slang.

One more since the subject bears some clarification. USMC dudes call USN dudes squids.

Thanks for clearing that up. I Googled motorcycle squid and I must say that I am text book squid. I ride at high rates of speed wearing nothing but my slippers, shorts, and a t-shirt. The only protection I have is my helmet. Except I commonly go 90 around 50 mph curves and much faster in the straights. Oh well, to each his own.
