Hello all. Has anyone changed the Top Triple Clamp on a 84ish VF750F Interceptor to something that will allow for installation of aftermarket handlebars? For example http://www.spieglerusa.com/cfm/sbk.cfm

I'd like to put some Renthal handlebars on. Will a triple clamp from a VFR750 (86-87) fit on my 84 vf750f? Are their any alternative options (besides keeping the original grips).

Bump. I have been trying to do the same thing for a while. I tried the lower clip on thing and it was killer on my back... got real old, real fast. From my research this looks like what i want. Problem is the upper tree has lots of metal cut out. There is nothing to drill and bolt risers to.

My next idea is to cut a top plate, a bottom plate, and bolt everything together like a sandwich. I can then drill and bolt on my risers for the superbike style bars.

    Any ideas?

Talk about a "bump", the original post is more than 4 years old! :hss: I digress, I met a 5 Gen rider that had a conversion that used a clip-on type of mount, meaning the handle bar mount(s) actually attached to the forks like a clip-on and handle bars attached to these mounts. No need to alter or replace the top clamp. I'll see if I can look him up and see where he bought them or who makes them.

    Cheers!

A pair of bolt on risers can be welded on as opposed to bolted. Assuming both pieces are aluminum, of course.

On my 86 VFR700 I put a set of 88-89 VFR750P bars on it just like the police. It's way more comfortable, just don't go with a wide bar. You don't need extra leverage, it just slows the steering down.

I was able to reroute the throttle cables, but if you need new ones, you can buy a kit for $44. The brake line might need to be swapped for a longer one. Most of the wiring was able to be rerouted. The horn wires need to be lengthened, though. I think the VF700 are close to the VFR700, but I could be wrong.

PS, I think my back problems were partly due to the leaned over riding position and partly due to the rough riding rear shock.

After checking with the rider I thought had what I described, it appears he wasn't the one with it. Not sure if I can locate the guy as I can't remember if he was a member or not, but that being said the rider I did contact did the LSL Superbike bar conversion kit by Spiegler.
