I just ordered new plastic for my gen 5 and I'm going to have the rear seat cowl and tank painted to match.
But... I need a dent removed from the tank placed there by my knee and would like to have all the work done somewhere around the Denver area.
Actually, anywhere from Colorado Springs, CO to Cheyenne, WY or in the Panhandle of NE would work but I figured most places would be near Denver.
    Any recommendations?

    someone looking for me?

These guys did two tanks for me and both turned out very nice: Welcome to Fort Collins Collision Repair!

First I had them do a 5th gen tank before I was talked into the benefits of a 6th gen tank. The 6th gen tank I obtained from another member hear also had a dent in it.

The problem you will have is color matching. Maybe red isn't as bad but I wanted the yellow and I know the Sherwin Williams automotive paint we cooked up is not an "exact" match. They match in the sun but the color is a little off in low light forcing a complete repaint front to back even if I could have found yellow panels. Lots of photos and details can be found in the link directly below these words.

You should warn a person before you send them to a thread with a picture of Snookie. :fear:

Honda racing red (or whatever they call it) is supposed to be difficult to match.
I had a dealer tell me they have to paint the plastic white, then red and red tends to fade faster than other colors making it tough to match if you get that far.

But the new plastic isn't going to be red and I'm going to see if I can purchase matching paint with the new fairing.

You might be able to use a hair dryer and a can of compressed air to pop the dent out (see YouTube for reference and make sure to drain the fuel first)

I've also had some luck in the past with minor dents on my car using the suction mount of my Go-Pro camera. Just stick the suction mount onto the dent and then pull the dent out by pulling on the arm of the mount.

Dead on matching of a few parts and new factory parts no matter what the color is not going to be perfect. Close but not perfect.

Red does fade. Faster in harsh sunlight. This is called fugitive. Reds save one, that is not to found that I know of are transparent. A white undercoat is the last "color" or non-color that should be used. Even at that, for some colors white is the ticket, using paint is not necessary if the dealer really meant a finish type paint and not a white undercoat or primer.

The "best" overall color for a prime coat is grey. This is especially true when applying the transparent reds. You can see where this is going as white will reflect through the transparent red and unless you can afford a whole shitload of very expensive red paint you end up with a partially painted red and pink ride. Popular in some very specialized circles but in general not, as Martha says, "A good thing".

A short search should show that most automotive type paint primers start life as grays. To see a very close example of the gray of choice, see Google Images and a "Kodak Gray Card."

There was a hooker in Atlanta who could create enough partial vacuum to move a nineball through five foot of garden hose. She retired and went into the body and fender biz.
