R/R isn't always at fault for low charging. You need to inspect 2 plugs before blaming it: 3-wire plug from stator to R/R and plug atop starter relay. Both are prone to overheating due to loose connections and will halt charging. Easy, quick fix if it's that, just some wire work and new terminals.

Let's hope the dealer in Nova Scotia helped you out further than telling you he could have a new R/R next month. Many dealers use the nearest Honda parts depot out of what they believe is convenience. There are many more than just that one. Sounds like maybe the Ontario dealer had the right R/R on the shelf.

From experience by many here, when you get home, buy a non-OEM replacement, wrap the stocker in bubblewrap and put it under your seat. Great insurance and fewer pesos than even the NO-TELL MOTEL.

Actually the local dealer told me none were available in Canada till the end of the month and I should rent a truck to get back to Fl. The unit I found is a MOSFET aftermarket so don't know if the dealer will hook it up or if ill do it myself. Either way hope to be on the way home sometime Monday.

Sounds like one of those dealers who will not go to dealer heaven and whose second cousin has a truck rental franchise..

Some irony here.. even the harleydoods have a page called "Dealers and Stealers" and for some reason the dudes on the "other" forums are reluctant to out the stealers or work for one and cry foul because they are trying to convince everyone that "all" franchised dealers are really nice folks who you'd want your virgin daughter to bring home to meet mom.

Glad you scored.. those R/R failures can be expensive and Honda inc will never ever own up putting out thousands of crappy parts.
