Work is hectic, too many things on the summer to do list, and then... there's the 700.

Got the carbs out Sunday to clean em up. It wasn't easy but it wasn't too bad either. Set the tank on the shop floor. It got hot this weekend. Gas ran out the cap. I have a 2" strip of wrinkled paint down the front. Fuck. Oh well, I'll fix it somehow, might as well just laugh.:yield:

    aggh - that's not good.:hurt:

Had rather assumed that a petrol tank would at least be painted with a paint which is petrol resistant! So assuming you have already dried the spill, then I guess it must be beer o-clock. :drink:Great for inspiration - like you really did want to have someone to customise your tank ... Perhaps its time to smother the tank in Honda Race stickers, or go the HOG by painting a skull and crossbones motif

    Take care

As a matter of fact SkiMad, I had several beers last night. I think I'll cut the paint off with an exacto knife and get some wide pin striping or the some vinyl they're wrapping cars with these days. Can't look any worse...

Exactly my thoughts - a beer or two for inspiration and then a problem becomes an opportunity. Good luck - and when you are done fettling would be good to see how it works out

Blame Canada. Gas was probably from the Alberta Tar Sands Project. Must have had some caribou piss get into the gas.

I am surprised that gasoline would do that to your paint on your tank. Was it painted with an after market paint that you know of?

Yeah Randy, the bodywork was painted by the PO. I don't know what he used for the clear coat but he claimed he had $500 in paint costs alone. He did do a really nice job though.

Maybe I'll get a chance to use the Canadian gas. I'd like to ride to Victoria, got friends on the island.

Yup. We could probably meet for a beer. Victoria is only about80 miles as the crow flies but there is a 1h35m ferry ride.

You probably are using Canadian Gas. We are your largest supplier of oil I think. Maybe second to the middle east but I think we have surpassed them many years ago. But I think that is about to change once they pull more out of the Bakken Formation in the N Dakota, Montana, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Most of this is in Montana and N Dakota. I have land on the edge of that in Manitoba so here's to good luck. Or maybe I can sell the swamp water and wild hay on the top.

Give me a shout when you are coming over.

The more oil, the mo better.

So you're on the island? Where abouts? It would give me another destination.

I can't imagine... I've done rattle can paint jobs that survive gas spills, after curing a bit.
Here in Vegas, paint dries sooner than immediately, and bakes on soon afterwards.

No. I am not on the island. Anymore....sob sob. I was transferred off the island back in 89 and have been wallowing in my sorrow ever since. But that's life.

How would you go to VanIsle? Ferry from Seattle or ride up to take the ferry from Tsawwassen? The Seattle to Vic ferry is about 3 hours and I believe it does not carry vehicles, only passengers. There used to be a vehicle ferry from Seattle to Vic because I took that boat once with my first wife. Kinda like a trip with two old tugs. (I can't believe I said that). I do believe there may be a vehicle ferry that goes from Port Angeles to Victoria but that may have stopped now.

I can make it from Chilliwack to Tsawwassen in an easy 1 1/2 hours. There are lots of places in and around the fery terminal at Tsawwassen for a burger and beer. The Tsawwassen to Victoria (Schwartz Bay actually) is 1 1/2 hours BC Ferries Schedules: Vancouver - Victoria(Tsawwassen-Swartz Bay)

On BC Ferries, though you don't have loading priority, I have never seen it where they didn't move the bikes to the front. It makes it easier for them to load, and it makes it so the bikes take up far less room.

Hell. Sumas border crossing is 15 minutes away even when I am driving the battle ship HMCS GMC Sierra.
