For the most part I thought I was done shopping for farkles for my '09, instead concentrating on stuff for my '01 project. Well, low and behold, MotorcycleGear put these Nelson Rigg saddle bags on close out. Originally $279.99 (MSRP), they are blowing them out for $67.99. The deal is that the bags are missing the neoprene padding that goes between the bag and you bike, this wasn't a big deal for me so I pulled the trigger. I was surprised when they came in though, as mine did have the neoprene pads!

I did a test fit and it looks like they'll do just fine, they're mostly for "extra" storage space on the longer road trips and possible work related needs. Here's a link in case your interested. Nelson Rigg SLR-40 Solar Powered Sportbike Motorcycle Sport Saddlebags :: MotorcycleGear.com

Christ! Are those wide or what. Go fast enough and you should get lift! Nice score. Even if they did not have the neoprene lining, there are all sorts of things you can use in its place that will offer the same protection, maybe even better.

Yeah, lane splitting might not be an option! Right now they have the hard inserts in them which expands them full width. I can probably take them out and collapse them a little if I have soft items in there. I'll measure them the next chance I get and get an idea of total width, the picture angle may be skewing the view a little.

Yeah, it happened again...Damn 8 spoke wheel ended up in my garage on Friday. Probably a good thing, 8 spokes would work better than 5 spokes with these bags, wouldn't they? At least that's what I've been telling myself!

BTW, I measured the width of the the bags and they're only 8" wide, camera perspective really fools the eye!

Found it in the classified section, they say timing is everything. It was posted up the day I saw the ad, I sent a PM, got a response right away and Bam! deal was done. Paid $280. If you really want one, I'll keep an eye out for you. They go on eBay every once in a while but there, you're battling to win the auction, in the classifieds, first come first serve.
