    Hi All,

I joined some time ago because a friend of mine was riding an '03 VFR and I was interested in learning more about the bike. This spring I bought an '07 FZ6 and really enjoyed riding the bike, including a weekend trip to Calgary AB (1000km each way) to attend a reception. I put about 6000km on her in two months.

Then, a couple of weeks ago I had a chance to ride an 00 VFR with a Staintune exhaust, no baffle in. I have never heard anything like that combo of deep throaty roar and mechanical whirring of the cam gears. Of course, it was love at first ride and I brought her home.

So, 00 VFR, blue, corbin seat, staintune exhaust, 31000 kms. Something tells me this is going to be a fun summer.

Fuggen Canucks. Where's the pix cheese head? Now that my true feelings are out, welcome to the site. We like to see the rides our brethren have. 1000 km to Calgary from where. I think you will find the VFR far more comfortable for long rides than the FZ6. Spring of 2012, I put 7000 miles, yup more than 11000 km, on my ride in 5 weeks. I had a few episodes of aches and pains but really, it was pretty good for this old codger.

    Ok, ok... pic added.

Thanks for the welcome! 1000kms from Victoria, BC with lots of stops along the way. No comparison between the bikes... the VFR feels so solid and stable and she pulls like crazy. I was a little worried about the riding position (not getting any younger, it turns out) but I find it really comfortable... I'd leave for a trip down the coast tomorrow... hmmm.

    Welcome to the club!!

    My short history:

I abandoned the bikes @ 24YO several brands 125 and 250, when my wife gets pregnant of my first son, as an act of newbie father responsible.
After him, five years later came our little girl, so my life start to change between small cheap cars.. sedans.. etc. and crazy of wish but keeping my mouth closed avoiding ask for a ride every time that I meet with some friend with a bike.

When I reached 47 here in Puerto Rico, don't know why .. but tempted by the cheap prices of the bikes in the island, the idea started to spin in my mind... "Miguel, you cannot let pass the rest of your life without ride a bike again" and after test several R6, more or less good, some kawas sport..some suzys, one day I found a 1990 VFR RC36 at $1800, called him... we meet at a shopping mall park lot.. and I ask for a ride.

The visual impression of the PRO ARM single sided, seducted me. then start.... and VOILA!!, THAT ELECTRIC SOUND, the bike was recently painted, so I figured out that something was hidden.

But not.. the bike with his 24 years old gave me two years of FULL FUN with almost zero maintenance, zero leaks, and I just changed it because appeared a 98 RC46 SUBLIME, like just out of the dealer just adding $ 300 to the 2200 that somebody offered me for the RC36.

I still looking for opportunities in classifieds online Clasificados Online Puerto Rico Real Estate, Jobs Autos Empleos , Bienes Raices Puerto Rico to see something that rocks me like a VFR to change it but I'm convinced that there is NO SUBSTITUTE for this bike.

So, I came back to the biker category 24 years after with a VFR, and there is no way that somebody convince me to change outside of the VFR Planet.

Next time your on your way to Calgary, don't forget to stop in Kelowna on your way through. Always glad to meet with another VFR owner. I have a really good friend that lives in Calgary so next time you down that way maybe let me know and we could meet up and ride together from Kelowna. Never hurts to travel in tandem in case something unexpected happens, like GOD FORBID a regulator/rectifier failure. LOL. Welcome to the site and the VFR you have sure looks good in that blue. Mine is just plain old RED, I know, I know, BORING!! LOL

With enough heads up, that will NEVER happen again. You, Zoom - Zoom and I should make it a threesome to Calgary sometime. I don't know anyone there and that's probably a good thing, but I love Calgary.

We do have a few recent arrivals to this site who live over on the rock in your area.

Haha, you won't believe it but we stopped in Kelowna on the way back where I celebrated my 47th at a cool little pub by the casino. Lots of fun.

I'll definitely look you up next time I'm headed that way. Thanks again for the warm welcome.

Awwwww, you feelin jealous of our comradery Pliskin.. LOL. We poor Canucks gotta stick together cause there are so few of us comparatively speaking. You're welcome to join us for ride any time. Might be a bit of a commute though.

    Hey Randy

My buddy Doug in Calgary has my old 85 VF1000F that he has not ridden in quite some time, so maybe three of us showing up at his place on VFR's might be enough to get him to take her for a rip.

    Hey Optionseeker

i assume the pub you are talking about was Rose's Pub right next to the Grand Hotel. It's down along the water front near downtown. They make some fantastic burgers.

Gonna have to see what we can do on this. On the 22 I go for my class 1 road test then right out from that to an overnighter to Kamloops. I have to catch up to a couple others who are going down the Hope Princeton then up 5A to Merrit and onto Kamloops on the 5a. I hope to meet them in Merrit and go with them the rest of the trip from there. Then I have a Washington, Oregon and possibly Northern California three or four day ride coming up in September as well. I have had a couple already this year so this may be something we need to plan ahead of time for next year. Either that, or you need to fix up the basement room for me cause my wife will want to keep the house after she throws me out.

No worries Randy. My son Liam has dibs on the main floor room (sorry, no basement dwellers) and he is always anxious to have someone sleep on the upper bunk of his bunk bed. Next to new mattress, quite comfortable if I do say so, myself. Course the ceiling is a bit low leaving little clearance to get in to bed or sit up in bed but what the hell, after a couple of good scotches, who cares. I feel it only fair to warn you though, he snores louder than a freight train at times and he asks A LOT of questions. He is quite interested in the police so maybe you could tell him a few really cool cop-caught-the-bad-guys bed time stories.

If your wife takes the house, you can always keep the 5th wheel (it's a toy hauler, correct) and park it in the driveway. LOL
