That stings- I had the same thing happen when I sold my 66 Barracuda probably 10 years back.
As a guy who has lived a similar situation, my opinion is let it go and leave it alone.

It is the luck of the draw. I had a buyer once destroy a bike I worked hard to restore. He just wrecked it beyond repair right after I sold it. I also had a buyer of a Suzuki Bandit I sold actually make it better than I would ever have thought it could look. It works both ways out there.

I have an update. I contacted the guy after noticing that the bike looked a little different. He got back to me and revealed that his plan was really to take some of the nicer parts from this bike, move them to another bike and possibly sell the extras and spares that I passed along. Most notably he swapped the forks to get the Racetech springs and valves and took off the braided brake lines. If I had known that I'm sure it wouldn't stopped our deal but I might have have had a different attitude about negotiating a price. Plus, I was a little put off by the misrepresentation. Oh well.

One thing that seems odd to me is why the guy even bothered to take off the inexpensive Galfer brake lines and reinstall some old rubber lines. I guess he's trying to keep his hands busy.

I love stories with happy endings. They make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Almost as warm and fuzzy as when I got rid of
that POS Sportster I bought once.

I do wish I had a rack of that Harley Beer. Those dudes would buy even the emptys.

as the seller you set the price, if you lowered it, you lowered it. honestly, i'd say my kid has cancer if it lowered the price, it's the game of buying/selling unfortunately and lying, deceiving, etc is part of that game.

look at it this way, i go buy a 30k car at the dealer, do i say, "hey, i have 30k in the bank, i say, ho hum thats allot of cash, can you do anything to lower it" maybe i say, "i dunno, thats allot of cash, i have kids soccer camp to pay for"

its the game, you got had, sorry but you could have stuck to your price. my 2 cents. it's accepted to fib if it changes the deal.

I agree with Tink. If it is just part of the game and no big deal to lie, then put his name out there. He can come in and brag about how awesome he is. If you agree, great. If not, then you can avoid the guy. I do not plan to purchase anything off ebay from him.
