    Hello,

So, I haven't had a bike in about 4 years, and haven't been paying attention to the market, AT ALL. I have just entered the market again and am looking for (in theory) exactly what the VFR claims to be. I am 6'2", 200 lbs so need a bigger bike. I want something that I can commute to work and have little excuse not to ride it, so I need storage, highway comfort and power on my new bike.

The VFR has the right riding position, right size and power, great commuter for mostly highway driving, etc. The only hang up I have comes from the reviews and other experiences I have read about and seen. I can't afford to spend a lot of money upgrading or fixing after the purchase.

One weird thing is the of the 3 used 2010's I have seen, all of them have been dropped and have some damage. Is that indicative of a balance problem with the bike?

I have found 3 of them. One is a stock demo with only 120 miles on it, and has a warranty for $10K. It has been dropped but only has minor cosmetic damage (all plastic has been replaced).

Another has 5,000 miles on it, has the Acroptyc (sp?) muffler and Hondaline cases for $11K, and the last is very similar, but no cases, Two Brothers exhaust, with lots of carbon "bling" for 10K. Both of these have been dropped and have minor cosmetic damage such as scrapes and scuffs. No cracks or breaks.

What are your thoughts? Is all (or most) of the negative press unfounded? Are there any fixes that I can request before I take possession of a 2010?

Is there another bike altogether I should be looking at similar to the 2010 VFR for my $10K budget? Bandit?????

    Thanks,
    Heath

Great bike, does it all well. Ride as mamy as you can, I found some feel more balanced and smoother, you'll no which one.
Three outa the four I tested had cosmetic damage as well, interesting.

I've seen the Z Bomb mentioned a bunch on these forums. Are you all talking about the $65 mapping dongle? I have gone through to the site and it looks like there are some far more expensive options, but if it really is that good, $65 is nothing for a good mod.

    Thanks,
    Heath

I don't get the negative press thing other than "it's ugly". Yeah, it's not great looking, but a lot of great bikes aren't works of art IMO (Multistrada, GS, K1300, Concours, most Triumphs..). All of the reviews I have seen have raved about important aspects like power, handling and comfort.

My $0.02 are to go with the one with the bags, assuming all else is relatively equal. Factory hard bags are freaking fantastic, and are a great option for resale, but are over $1K from Honda.

Overall, the 7th gen is a great bike. $10-11k for a 2010 is fair. Similar bikes for similar money are the K1300, Concours, Ninja 1000, and maybe the FZ1. You may want a Busa if you're a g-unit gangsta and want to stretch it to 15 feet in lenght with underglow and chrome everything.

BWAHAHA!!! I have always thought the 'Busa is what a comic book artist would create if tasked with making a retar.......um......."special".....motorcycle". It's just so fat and bloated looking, and whoever designed the dumb bubble looking rear seat cover should be taken out back and shot.

Thanks for the input. I will look up the K1300 and the others, but don't think I will get anywhere near the deal I am seeing on the VFR's.

    Health,

I happen to be 6'2 190 and my 2010 VFR is not lacking in power at all. I dont have any of the Mechanical upgrades and find this bike to be super ride able and quite comfortable for a machine that leans more toward sport than touring. Personally after riding it for about 5k I see no reason to do any mods.

That being said mine came with the windshield extender (which I removed), fairing extenders near the grips, and the factory top bag.

out side of the laggy response if you hang out in 2nd gear too long around 3k rpm (pulling in the clutch and revving it a couple times handles that) it runs great.

I have not experienced any balance issues, I just have to remember this thing weighs around 600 lbs.

My 2 pennies is that you will not be disappointed at all in the purchase.

BTW get the one with the bags as was stated in prior posts, they are fantastic.

    Happy riding.

    Nate
