hoping for some insight as why only the main fuel chamber vs the reserve isnt flowing, the passage from the reserve to the carbs is good but the main seems clogged. how would i clean that out?

    What bike ??????

Try blasting compressed air into the petcock (with fuel filler cap open) through the fuel line.

Probably a good idea to totally drain and flush tank to remove crud.

If your tank is in good condition the only thing I can think of would be if the bike has not had new gas in a while the ethanol will separate from the petrol and becomes very gummy. I had this happen to a 88 hurricane that was left in a shed for the winter, the gas separated in carb #1 and the bike was only running on 3 cylinders, mixed some carb cleaner in with the gas and after running for a while it sorted itself out. The only other thing that could clog it is if the filter in petcock is clogged or breaking down, or if the petcock itself is damaged. Compressed air is a good idea. If that doesn't do it you will have to run the tank as low as you can get it and pull tank and petcock off the bike for closer inspection.
