We have a nice gen 4 for sale locally for a mere $2200. Pm me for details if interested. That seems like a good enough deal to me ! Great bike with lowish price.

The owner probably hosed it all up with the airbox "mods" :potstir:

Try one without the infamous snorkel mod!

Seriously, no offense taken. As a matter of fact, my next motorcycle definitely WON'T be a Honda. Honda doesn't make anything I am interested in for my next motorcycle. Honda doesn't make a single motorcycle I would give a second look.

But that doesn't mean I don't love my VFR! And you feel the same way about yours!

CRfan you are spot on about the 07 if you ask me. I had one too, and now have a 5th gen. The 5th gen motor is stronger off the bottom, and as strong through the middle and on top. If you look at actual numbers the VTEC engines gained no HP and lost torque compared to 5th gen. I'll keep my 5th gen thank you. 6th gen looks better, and I feel the front forks were considerably better, but that's it. The engine did not impress me.

Sure wish I could buy a new one of these. 10+ years old and still spectacularly beautiful.

(Speaking as a new 6th gen owner who always coveted the yellows).

(Just a little secret, but Toe has one of them there superchargers on his '07. Power is definitely not an issue for him. I'm sure he gave a little school-girl giggle when you mentioned not enough power. That bastard. :) )

Me too, went from a 6th to a 5th in 2005 and while admit the 6th was better in most other ways found myself irrationally angry at Honda for messing up such a Gem of a engine when they added Vtec.

What I wasn't supprised about was riding the mid range was much nicer without the transition coming in and out continually through my favorite tight long distance Alpine twisties but the mk1 injection fueling standard on my '99 is a lot better than the more advanced 6th Gen was ?

Yah he has one of them blower thingies that makes absurd power or so I have read but how much absurd power? Toe, did you ever dyno that beast? I mean your VFR800S.

Oh and what about reliability on that thing? You have suffered one or two set backs while running this system. What are your thoughts on reliability? Can this little bugger be boplted on and forgotten? Can it be abused or should it be used sparingly? Recommended for touring??

Sorry to jack the thread but now that you mention Toes blower, I'm curious.

    I didn't mention anything about Toe's blower, a/k/a Scubalong.

    Ok, back to topic.

yellow reminds me of michigan, michigan reminds me of a toilet, a toilet reminds me of a giant pile of shit, which makes me think of michigan again. its a vicious circle that i don't think my brain could handle on a yellow bike.

I should have probably looked at a 5th gen before buying my 6th, but I've always had a hard spot for the way the 6th Gen looks. Chances are good that if/when my valves give out on my bike I will probably just swap in a 5th gen engine (lots of work, I know) and have the best of both worlds. :)
Or I may buy a 5th gen. Who knows.

There is nothing "wrong" with any of the VFRs. Enjoy the generation you have. Frankly, each of them is woefully technologically obsolete. Except the 7th gen, which is an acquired taste anyway.
