Hi All, I've just relocated temporarily to the USA from Australia and looking to pick up a good sports tourer and do a nice long trip around the country. Now renting a bike seems pretty pricey, so I'm toying with the idea of purchasing a bike then re-selling it. From searching the internet it appears it may be possible to do so through a dealer and arrange an agreement and then have the insurance registered to the dealers address ( or potentially my current address in New York). So just thought I'd check here to see if anyone has knowledge of someone doing this before and if they can offer any tips. Also looking for route trips. Preferably id be looking to head south and do a clockwise circuit of the USA soaking up as many twisty roads and awesome scenery as possible. Also looking at routes where i can camp along the way. Finally if anyone has a VFR 800 (or similar sports tourer) for sale ( or interested in some from of sell/buy back agreement) in the NY region, let me know. Thanks in advance for the help.
If you want to place a full price deposits on my be love VFR You can take her for couple months when you bring it back I will return the remain balance
Sounds like a fantastic trip, if I could pause my life I'd join ya. Long seems to be offering you a fantasic oppertunity, all the best, enjoy the loop.
There is some great roads to ride in the Pacific North West and Oregon. California is pretty good too but can be warm depending on time of year you are there. California, Oregon and Washington all have pretty good state parks for camping. Just be bear aware. A term you will come to know well camping in the north west. Keep us posted. If you are in the northern Washington area, post up. I may just ride down there for a meet. Just so you know, the snow does not automatically start when you cross the border to Canada, you know, another commonwealth country.
