So Im totally bummed out here. I hit a pothole couple weeks ago...one that cranked the front wheel left and scared the crap outta me. Was dark and in a bad area just checked out the tires. Looked ok and still had normal PSI. The day after I rode a 4 hour roundtrip to my nephews graduation, and 3-4 times after that.

Everything seemed fine. Go out today instantly see this and pressure is 30/30. Im soo upset.

Nice bike, sorry for your mishaps. You might be able to have the rim fix from your local wheels shop.

As upsetting as it is, they should roll out pretty easy... Get them off to a wheel specialist ASAP... You May even be able to pin the cost against council if the pothole has remained unrepaired for a period of time...

Big bend for sure, musta punted your arse off the seat NO?

I hit a cobble stone once and got lifted pretty good. Thought about a company called, Kosman Engineering that I recall used to widen wheels and such. May be cheaper to get a junk-yard wheel though...Good luck and at least you didnt end up on your ear, I used to bend wheels over rail road tracks when I lived up north, but never as bad as yours...

I agree. Definitely look into having your city, or whatever agency is responsible for road upkeep, pay for the rim repairs.

That really sucks that both rims are bent. Glad you came out unscathed.

    Way2faded...

I had basically the same dent in my front wheel. I ran over a 4x4 piece of lumber at about 50 or 60 mph.

I bought a used wheel on eBay. It was from a 2002 VFR which, except for the paint, is the same as a 2007. It wasn't cheap. $325 shipped, but that included rotors, which I'll sell for $100 in the future (maybe).

I had to buy a spare wheel because I have no car, I'm on the VFR every single day. I'm going to repair my original wheel, though I kind of like the look of the gloss black wheel. I'll probably keep the spare wheel anyway, seems like dents are common.

Next project? Switch out the rear wheel, which was bent in the same incident!

That wheel striping didn't do squat to strengthen the rim did it" I too thought what a pot hole. Are you sure you were not riding in Winnipeg in the spring time? With a ding that bad, I am surprised the bead did not fail you right away.

I have a small dent on my rear rim. Have had it for years now and it has not been noticeable ride wise. I have gone through three or four sets of tires with it that way. But it is a lot smaller dent than yours. I will get that fixed when and if I get the wheels powdered again which I am leaning towards. They have over 100K miles and are showing their wear.

I'm thinking of powder coat on mine as well, since I'll already have it off for repairs...
