    Hi people.

I'm new to the forum. Just need to bitch somewhere. Had my bike for less than two weeks. Back tyre is pretty much finished. This morning as I was taking a turn on the wet road, the back wheel started slipping. I thought I could get it back under control but before I knew I was on my back on the tar. Pretty fucking sore. :p Bjroke off the left foot rest and the tip of the handle bar. Was the worst sound ever hearing the bike scratching on the tar. Paint is ok though. Just so bummed.. :/ But I guess you have to come off sooner or later. Luckily it wasn't too bad.

Getting it fixed now though. Tyres and all. Keen to get back on. :D
Anyone else have a similar experience?

    Peace out!

Hello and welcome to the madness mate! You got any pics to share of your girl?

Sorry to hear about your mishap. Might you have been taking the corner a tad too fast in the wet (with a bald tire) and/or too fast after the first rain after a long dry spell (oils, and debris on road being raised up and flushed off)? I hope you were wearing gear to save your hide.

Is this your first bike? I was just curious if you had already taken a motorcycle safety course. We are all professionals here, none of us have NEVER EVER crashed....no way.

Glad you are ok, and becareful out there boss!

    Cheers,

    :vtr2:

Oh no, an NC30!!! Say it isn't so!

I'm sure I represent the majority here when I offer my sympathies for your pain but on the other hand, you knowingly took the risk so I'm not as sympathetic as I could be. If you post up some pictures of your ride, before and after, I'm sure we would all love to see them since they were never offered for sale in North America.

Oh and I hope you had some decent gear on at the time!?

Will post some pics soon! She's matte black with a bit of red. Was going about 20/30km/h at most, so wasn't too intense.
I had a little 125 Suzuki DR for about a year but this is my first bigger bike. Have all the necessary gear but haven't gone for a safety course. I come from a family of bikers though so they've showed me some stuff. Wouldn't hurt to go for a course though.

    Shot for the reply mate!

Sorry to hear about your accident. Tryes are your life line, period end of story. I have fallen with old shite ones and always replace them when they get worn, ie before the wear bars show up. Have fallen with new ones too, shite does happen...

Mine bike is no stranger to the tarmac, I will tell you this, they crash pretty well and I was always able to ride it home. Its somewhat of a garage queen now though as it doesnt get the miles it needs or deserves.

:worthless: gota have pictures of the damage Mate!

Hmm... I bet it'd be hard to find some who hasn't. Chalk it up to experience.

RD350- three times, 550 Seca- once. In my teens on the RD, 20 on the Seca.

No worries mate. To be brutally honest, I STRONGLY suggest taking a motorcycle safety course. It can (and probably will) end up saving your life. I know that others around us (friends/family) may ride bikes, however, many times those people have developed bad habits thinking what they are doing is correct, and they pass that bad info onto you. You use this bad info, and may get yourself into a pickle because of such.

Not trying to be a preacher, but I am.....I only say this because as motorcyclists, we all look out for one another, and taking a safety course is one of the best ways to better your riding ability, and save your hide. It will teach you how to react to situations that may leave others (with no training) injured, or :rip:.

Invest in yourself boss. Motorcycle safety course(s) and remember ATTGAT (all the gear, all the time), as it will literally save your hide. When investing in your bike, make sure it has what it needs to be safe first....good tires, good chain/sprockets, properly adjusted suspension, good brakes, check hoses, etc for signs of wear and tear.

Good luck getting the ole girl back together. Can't wait to see the pics!

    Cheers,

Before I got into road-racing down here in FL I had a custom Syed Leathers suit made for me. I lived in NJ and used to go out in the mountains and tear up the sides of my tyres, I loved that suit, if it got so much as a bug splatter on it or gawd forbid, rained on it was the end of the world.

Flash forward to racing. That suit hit the deck so much, I was glad it was black. Its a little tight now, kinda feel like a sausage in it acutually. Point of the story, is this: it became a tool and something consumable. Race bikes are like that some times. Street bikes have a longer staying power...Did have another street jacket altered though when I was in Orlando and I dont feel like sausage meat in it any more. Gota eat a little less, portion control.. :dinner: :yum:

Riding in the rain takes a smooth hand, and minimal braking. Never really raced in the rain, that always impressed me though. They had special rain tyres anyway...Cheers Shiny side up always.

Will post some pics tomorrow morning. Just need to take them first... Had to go to work straight after the bail so didn't have much time.

Welcome, good to see more South Africans here. Sorry about your crash, glad you weren't badly hurt. I smashed mine last year and it's absolutely heartbreaking. Part of my mirror ended up on the road and every car that went past rode over it, don't think I will ever forget that sound.

Sorry for the terrible quality of the pics. Had to take them with a Blackberry:hangme:

Yeah so... Exhaust now has a hole in it. Gonna fix that this weekend. Other than that it's just the foot rest and the handlebar. But I think those are relatively easy fixes. The support bar for the middle fairing/visor part was a bit bent from the mirror hitting the tar. But nothing serious. Is it ok to ride with the exhaust like that? Coz I wanna take it to have the tyre replaced asap. It's a tiny tear in the exhaust but it sounds bad.

They aren't really sold here either. All the VFR400's are grey imports. But you can get hold of one without too much effort. And yes I had gear on. And I had my laptop in a backpack on my back so that kinda broke the fall as well..
